He ducked beneath the rawhide door of their hut. Leah, Olorus, and Hook were crouched around the fire in the same positions as before. Everything looked the same. But everything had changed.
"Were you able to talk some sense into the billy goat?" said Olorus.
It was not in Justin's nature to ignore people when spoken to, but he was in no mood to lie. Without a word, he walked past Olorus and sat down on one of the cots, trying to hide the blood on his hand.
Zechariah entered the hut and said, "There are caves."
It caught them all off guard. He had a way of doing that.
"It is a system of tunnels beneath the mountains," he said. "Some are natural. Others were carved by the Ancients. Causeways connecting the underground citadels."
He crossed to the fire and crouched there, bidding Justin to join him. Still spiteful from their conversation, Justin had half a mind to stay right where he was, but he complied.
