Justin hit the ground. His neck snapped back, his skull cracked against the floor, and he saw stars.
He heard his sword clatter across the stone as he rolled and realized he must have lost his grip on it. When he finally stopped rolling, he had trouble standing. The floor seemed to tilt beneath his feet. The only light was the green glow of his sword lying partway across the room. He shook his head, trying to steady the dizziness, but it only made things worse.
From the shadows ahead, he heard footsteps and a dull jingle of boots wading through coins.
