Chapter 25: Searching for Treasure

It was a quiet midwinter Sunday morning in Hawthorne House, and Gareth was bored. He'd tried, although neither very hard nor successfully, to talk himself into studying for his upcoming Social Studies test. Instead, he was lying on his bed with his pet squirrel, Shadow, reading a popular science book that he'd borrowed from the school library. In actuality, he was waiting for Matt and Gerallt to finally wake up and pass his open door on their way down to breakfast. Both boys were still asleep after having stayed up for hours and hours after Gareth had gone to bed.

Meanwhile, Matt's sister Tina had been in Gwyneth's room all morning. Tina was giving Gwyneth advice about clothes and makeup, while Gwyneth was telling Tina about life on Deer Isle.
