Chapter 86

Cathal arrived in Exeter and was making his way to the Cathedral to find the Templars when he heard the distinctive sound of clanging swords. With curiosity, he dismounted, tied his horse to a fence and cautiously approached.

What he saw angered him. Outlaws in superior numbers were attacking two Templar knights. In the gloom, he observed the Templars begin their deadly first attack, but a noise behind the outlaws drew his attention. He carefully crept closer and saw a half dozen archers. He was too distant to prevent the first flight of arrows, but he saw them launch a second and his blood boiled. From behind and unseen, he stealthily approached as the archers notched new arrows to their bows.

He struck quickly. His leg shot out, and struck one archer, then a second. His form moved with graceful vehemence and more men collapsed clutching at limbs.
