Surprised at Sir Hyde's response, the templar knight decided to trust his instincts and push cautiously on. "Sir William has little faith that the bishop is acting in the best interest of the Church and is allowing a personal feud to interfere with management of his diocese."

Sir Hyde laughed, but it contained no mirth. "So ye can help the bishop, is that it? I never thought I'd live to see the day when I was called upon to grant a boon to the Church to assist Bishop Immers in his time of need."

The templar looked uncertain and shook his head. "Nay, sire, Sir William wishes to inform the Pope of Bishop Immers' unorthodox behaviour and have him censored if not removed as bishop."

Sir Hyde broke in to a broad smile and breathed out a sigh of relief. He returned to his seat and took a generous pull of wine before he replied. "Forgive me, I thought..."

Sir Peter raised a hand to forestall an apology. "My error, sire, I was not clear."
