Chapter 49

”He took my dragon away from me,” Elias continued.

“I understand,” Olivia nodded, even though Erik was pretty sure she had no idea what Visser was talking about. ”We could help you get it back.”

Visser lifted his gaze, and now he looked positively hopeful: ”Could you?”

“Of course,” she assured, leaning towards him. ”But you have to give us some information. Something that can be used to bargain for you. Come on, Elias, give me a hand... why do you have to take all this to protect that Cain guy?” she said with contempt.

It was evident that Visser was tempted by the proposal. “I need to think about it,” he finally said. ”Can I have a few days?”

Erik was astonished: the two officers were not as clumsy as he thought. The tactic seemed to work.

Olivia leaned back in her chair: ”Well, you know, Elias, the more time passes, the less relevant your information becomes. The sooner you speak, the more you will be able to gain. This is in your own interest.”
