chapter 13

"Essence, none of them are ready yet, until I find a way out of this, we must bide our time 'till it ends. You are aware of this right… no all of you are aware of it." – I responded to Essence quite calmly with a peaceful soft smile, Essence was and is my first partner, a perfect partner that understands me like an open book. As I said those words, I closed my eyes wanting to rest and regain my strength much faster so I can return early. I trust Essence to know what to do in this kind of situation, so at least once I just want to rest my mind and body to let go of all these tensions that kept crawling back in.

This timeline is my last chance to redeem what I've lost so many times before and I won't let it happen again, not this time when I already have the cards, I need to change what is set in stone. I just need to bide my time to gather my cards to overpower the Oblivions and overthrow those prideful and arrogant godly beings off their purported thrones. When Armond found the tomb of my two masters as they hold the final key for my plan to be fully complete, for now, I must focus on the present and do what I can do to achieve it.

Nothing will be standing in my way to achieving it even if I must sacrifice my own soul.

As I open my eyes blinking by the surprise of the light, observing my surroundings wondering where Essence placed me to rest a familiar ceiling and wall entered my sight, of course, it will be this place where time is slow. Glancing at the clock that mirrors the time outside of my pocket dimension telling me it's almost been one week since I've been out cold meaning I have time to go back. But first I need water, lots, and lots of water to gulp down.

"Sia, Mese… give me water please." – I muttered under my breath as I'm pretty sure that the twins heard me loud and clear because of our bond. Trying to stand up and let just say the key word tried because, in the end, I failed miserably to even stand on my two legs like a newborn calf shivering under my weight. In a split second the twins show up in front of me holding a glass of water while the other one supports my body to stand as my legs get familiar with the feeling again.

"Thanks, Sia and Mese, so care to tell me what has happened outside?"

"Those soldiers you've healed are resting comfortably after Essence made sure that their health is not in danger anymore and also, Essence left a few words for you master." – Mese answered as she tails us in the back while Sia guided me to my bedroom supporting my body weight to make my walk easier as I mumble a thank you for the twins when I lay down in my bed.

"She said, `Do not even think about summoning me in that condition of yours, think about yourself first then others if you want to achieve your goal alive and kicking, idiot brat`" – Sia relayed to me word by word… yeah that sounds like her alright when I first met Essence, she looked at me then called me an idiot brat then just patted my head.

As time passed by our affectionate bond grows and with it grows are my different style and orientate of powerful scythes that suited me more than I expected. I asked Essence why I have different kinds of the scythe that came out of her that I even asked if she was pregnant and who was the husband. In the end, I receive a violent punch in the head.

She replied to me that it was because of the essence of my soul that's why her name was Essence because my soul is the quintessence of life and death. My existence is irregular and contradictory in the creation of both godly beings and mortal beings, I didn't understand what she means so I choose to ignore it and bury it deep in my mind.

The veracity of my existence is not important to me right now, the issue is that those humans who were experimented on by those insane maniac scientists craze over crossing the limit of humans through extreme are dangerous without anyone reeling those experimented humans then it will be chaos. I won't make that mistake…again.

In my other timeline those humans that got unexplained powers from being illegally experimented on in their past, we called them the Maverick; these group of people are unorthodox people like an eccentric outsiders of human society, some of them act like insane criminals who kill people randomly using their power in whatever they want. While some are our comrades who helped us fight against the Oblivions, but they still have those eccentric tendencies… in a good way.

Remembering the injuries and severe wounds that my comrades suffered from their hands almost made me thirsty for their blood and just forget all my plans for them that will ensure their safety from those people who experimented on them and just slaughter all of them together with those arrogant maniac organizations.

"Sia-Mese, go back to the pocket dimension and let me rest for a bit as I receive the report from my guards and my clone about the details for earlier. Thank you for taking care of me." – I smile softly towards them as I caress their heads affectionately, all my scythes are my second family and group of friends that will always be by my side.

They feel things like any kind of living being, unlike humans, my scythes act more humane compared to others. Sia-Mese are the youngest of them all, so I and my scythes babied them all the time and I think it frustrate them by telling us they're not a baby anymore.

I send a telepathic message to Captain Arnold and Captain Sanda telling them to enter my room and report what I've might miss when I fell unconscious as I merged with my clone's memories for this morning.

Nothing much happened when I was still away everything was normal like any other day of mine, big bro was doing his exercise routine while my clone cooked for breakfast. Then after that, my clone joined big bro in doing house chores until I gave an order for my clone to make an excuse for it to go back to my bedroom.

I sense the two captains' presence outside of my room giving them a signal to enter my room to report the current situation of those injured soldiers and the investigation report in Russia. They said their greeting with a salute, and I just made a hand gesture to stand at ease, I'm not in the mood for formalities.

"General Tatsuya and General Rio with their surviving teams are resting comfortably an hour after Ms. Essence transported you to a safe place to repose without being disturbed, General Rio awoke looking for you with urgency in his voice. He gave us this hidden USB drive in his dog tag informing us that we must read it ASAP then he loses conscience. Until now, no one has awakened and their vitals are stable with no repercussion." – reported to me by Captain Sanda as I nodded in response focusing on the gathered information they've accumulated.

Even though I've come back from the past and have all the information I needed doesn't mean that my actions in this current present didn't affect anything. Information is knowledge and knowledge is the power to solve a problem, of course, if you have the right knowledge, if not then it's your fault for being clueless in the current situation. It leaves a foul taste in my mood for being uninformed, in other words stupidly idiotic and foolish person.

"Hmm… that's good, how's the training of the future legionnaires? Have the old masters of martial arts replied to our request to help us train them?" – I asked if those old senile masters agreed it would make my life much easier because let's be honest I'm not good at teaching others how to fight. I could share my knowledge with them or tell them my experiences but that's all to it. It's just words that cannot compare with action to train their muscle memory and mentality for handling the existing weapon.

"All the Generals are in their bottleneck through phase two, there are few promising in the enlisted ranks and warrant officer ranks. We have not received any reply from them yet." – response Captain Arnold

"I see. What happened with the officer ranks? Don't tell me they are lagging behind then what's the use of them being in the officer ranks if they're losing with others that lower ranks compare to them." I snap back annoyed; I'm not wasting resources on those useless officer ranks if they can't even show progress compared to those lower ranks. Quality is much better than quantity especially if they'll just be cannon fodders.

"Most of the officers in higher ranks are middle age to senior age, so they've decided to still train their body and mind to their limits but not use that many resources while they do the paper works or training the logistics group." – answered Captain Arnold with cautious lingering in his voice

"Fine, I'll let them off this time as they're not wasting resources, however you two must convey these exact words to them. I will test the logistics group according to their efficiency, teamwork, steadfast movements, concise decision under heavy pressure in a stressful environment, and they must also know some fighting techniques in case of danger. No one in the army will be cannon fodders. If they are just kick them out after giving them one chance."

At those words I dismissed them sensing that big bro is walking towards my room readying myself to look presentable. I can't look sickly and weak in front of my big bro now, can I. A knock resonated throughout my room, shouting to my big bro to come in as I glimpse up then back to the book I'm pretending to read. Truth to be told, I don't really know where I got the knack to read novels or those manga books, even I'm busy fighting for survival I always find time to read these things. It gives me normalcy and it made my life easy to understand how human emotions work in real life.
