He hurried back to the laboratory where his Master, completely recovered from his operation was waiting, his face smoldering with anger.

“What the hell is going on Talokta, you are over two hours overdue. I couldn’t contact you via your ring and I had to get a scanty verbal report from a physician!” he bellowed.

“We had complications with some of our communications caused by the electromagnetic pulse generated by the detonation of the Earth’s bomb. My first priority was to make sure Leah was safe. I ensured all our systems were completely overhauled and tested. I have provided a full report,” came the matter of fact reply.

Talokta handed the tiny crystal chip from his computer to his Master who snatched it, turned his back, and strode to a computer to read it. “Go for your operation!” he commanded without looking at him.

As always, Talokta stood to attention, saluted with his fist against his chest and left.
