Chapter 242: SCIFI Showdown Part 1

February 2006

Blake Arthur Bennett always knew what he wanted to be.

While his circle of school mates desired the usual middle of the road occupations; firemen, rock stars, cops or footy players, Blake wanted to be a photo journalist.

Cameras were a magnet to him. While other kids his age were playing baseball, or attending scouts, he would grab his parent’s cheap instamatic camera and painstakingly take shots of everything that took his fancy. Then, whipping out his mom’s favorite wooden spoons he had enlisted as microphones, he would interview any ‘live’ subject he had photographed.

Whenever he received enough pocket money he would buy one of those develop-once-and-throw-away types sold at corner stores for tourists that have either:

a)forgot their camera,

b)lost their camera,

c)had their camera stolen,

d)had no taste.

And, at his young age he did not care.

Now, at the age of thirty two, he was a true professional. And he had worked damn hard for it.
