Chapter 32: Climb

I'm not even at the next landing and I run into the others fighting off a wave of hobgoblins. Blossom tosses herself backward into my arms and I catch her before she tumbles down the stairs, just barely.

"I have an idea," she says. "We have to get off the steps. They're just going to keep coming after us."

I watch Damaris cutting through the line of attackers at the top, knowing Blossom is right. Yes, the way is narrow enough she can keep them off of us for a time, but when she falls, it's only a matter of weariness and bad luck before we're taken out.

"What do you want to do?" I'm positive I'm going to hate the answer.

I'm right. "Climb," she says. Hesitates, looks sad as she peeks over the edge of the stairs and then leans back quickly. "I didn't want to say anything when Vosh was with us because, well."

He can't climb. "Climb what?" I look up but she shakes her head and points at the windows and suddenly I can't breathe and I'm shaking.
