Chapter 47: Assassin

Lilith reacted first, moving with the speed of a vengeful serpent, putting herself between me and the strange woman. Didn't seem to matter. The newcomer moved with her own lithe grace, circling us, forcing Lilith to wrap me in coils as she spun, head swaying, neck spreading into a threatening hood.

But the woman didn't strike, her arrow loose on the string of her bow, the weapon held low near her black leather clad thigh. Tall boots hugged her to her knees, a tight vest of the same supple leather hugging her narrow chest. Pin-straight black hair shone in the sun dappling the space, thin lines of darkness drawing out the corners of her almond eyes over her angular cheekbones. Olive tinted skin and delicate features told me she was Egyptian, the Eye of Ra tattooed on one muscular bicep the final piece of the puzzle.

So, from Mom's Pantheon. Had she been sent to try to finish me off? And, was she right? Was my physical form vulnerable?
