Chapter 50: Destiny

I perked immediately and stood from my throne, heading for the privacy of the room behind my throne. The disappointment of the creatures left waiting was palpable and I had a further instant of regret over leaving them hanging yet again. But the appearance of Destiny meant maybe I'd be learning things that could help me understand what was happening.

I'd make it up to my monsters. Honest.

She bounced toward me, a bundle of happiness and light, her dark, shining curls falling over the shoulders of her lovely little dress. Destiny spun, showing me her pretty pink ribbon holding back the front of her hair, the way her hem flared when she turned, the shining darkness of her patent leather shoes. I caught myself grinning and hugged her while she embraced me back, small arms winding around my neck, red bow lips pressing firmly to my cheek. She blew a raspberry, eyes dancing with mischief before she released me and spun away again.
