The old man’s body arched, his eyes flying open, a moan escaping his lips while the heart rate monitor speeded before settling into a strong, healthy rhythm. I jerked my hand back, weight in my chest as the mist dissipated and left me to stare at the body in the bed.
While Nero’s hand grasped my arm and pulled me forcefully away, I knew the truth. The old man’s eyes fluttered, opened. And he smiled at me. Alive. Healthy. Full of Life when his fate was Death.
No. Not again.

   Chaos grasped firm control and threw us through the threshold of the Repository's realm barrier, hurtling us into the private room behind my throne back home. I stumbled as she let me go on the other side, her part satisfied with our return. I almost fell into Seth who caught and righted me with steady, sure hands though from his aura he was as upset as the weeping monster who dripped her blood tears through her raw fingers onto the plush, purple carpet where she sprawled in utter dejection.


   Cadence stood next to Ghola, staring down at her with an oddly annoyed expression though when my angel sister looked up and met my eyes, she seemed as concerned as Seth. She ran to me, hugged me. Her aura bubbled, anxious and afraid and I ignored her reaction to the little monster in favor of grasping Cadence by both upper arms. I forced her back, staring into her eyes while I made my demand.
