She forced strength into my limbs, pushing me upright, taking control of my body and lunged for Cadence. Even as Cadence reached out with a casual kind of lack of interest, and touched the tips of her fingers to my forehead.

I'd forgotten the agony of the empathic field, of being able to not only sense but to absorb the feelings of others. I have no idea how she'd done it, but in that touch, Nemesis tore away the protections that Chaos had offered me, the reversal that her acquisition had allowed me. Gone was the ability I had to influence the emotions of others, to sense them and use them to my advantage. Instead the girl I was, the girl who suffered her entire life with the weight of the feelings of others pushing down on her, came back to haunt me.
