Chapter 99

INT. - SILVER CITY MORGUE - MORNING

Gerri's car almost seemed to steer itself toward the morgue as her tired mind ran through the evidence of the case. By the time she was striding across the parking lot to the door, she had to shake her head to pull herself into the present moment. A quick nod to the pair of guards behind the desk-a smirk to herself at how quickly they straightened up and turned serious at the sight of her-and she was covering the length of the hallway in long, steady steps.

The swinging door to the morgue opened silently as she pushed her way through, surprised to find Ray wasn't alone. Dr. Daniel Druit stood over the body of Harold Moore, a frown on his tanned face. Gerri could tell from the way his thick, white mustache bunched, the deep lines around his blue eyes, Druit had the bit in his teeth and didn't want to let go.
