Chapter 62: Not So Little Green Men

Captain Roche sat by the campfire they had built reviewing star charts on a data pad while the two younger pilots, Franklin and Baker took inventory of their supplies. It had been three hours since they landed on the no-name green moon. During that time they put up their small one-man tents, collected enough safe-to-eat fruits, nuts and water to stretch out their rations for a week, collected firewood, dug a shallow sanitation pit and even located a few stones large enough to sit on. After all of that, there wasn't much more to do.

"Orders Captain?" Baker asked.

"Why don't the two of you do a complete systems check on your birds while we still have some daylight. I want to know that we are ready to go on a moment's notice."

"Yes Sir," both said in unison.
