Matthew O. Duncan is part of the resurgence of Old School Sci-fi.  His books are a mix of Military Sci-fi, Fantasy, Romance, and Mystery weaved together with non-stop action.  Matt started his writing career as a playwright. He won a number of awards and had his plays produced on local stages.  He put his pen down in the late ’90s but picked it up again in 2011.

He soon learns that the world is populated by people who seemed to have been lost by time and controlled by stones that the people believe to be divine magic. Wanting only to return to his fleet, he discovers that he has more than a passing connection with the world’s people, a love that resurrects a heart long thought dead and a decisive battle to the war that followed him.

Katreena did not retrieve her steed from the public stables for fear of being followed.  She ran straight into the woods under the cover of darkness.  The three rising moons gave some light, yet with no true path to follow, her steps were difficult to take quickly.  Dread filled her thoughts as the fears of evil befalling her family, home and all whom she cared for.  Tears dropped to her cheeks and froze in place in the bitter cold air.  She knew she could not stop no matter how difficult it was to see.  The ground was a mix of gravel, dirt, and rock.  At times the ground gave way, forcing her to slide until hitting solid ground and fell.  Getting up just as quickly, she continued as fast as her balance would let her.
