Chapter 119: Given an Opportunity

Four years passed.

Timothy sat in the small kitchen eating his second stack of pancakes as he worked on his Econ 103 assignment for the virtual college he was attending. Vickie walked in, sat in the opposite chair, crossed her arms and glared at Timothy until he noticed her and gave her his full attention.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"You know damn well what's wrong," she said as if he had just walked into the house with a stink on the bottom of his feet.

"No, I really don't," he said putting his workbook pad down.

"Linda just told me that Joy got accepted to Cambridge."

"Yeah, she told me last night," he said matter-of-factly.

"And you did nothing to talk her out of it?" she asked as if he had committed a mortal sin.

"Why would I do that?"

Vickie was truly perplexed. "Well, I was under the impression that you two were inseparable. Linda's been window shopping for baby clothes expecting to be a grandmother sometime in the near future."

"Grandchildren?"
