Chapter 43: Can't Be Trusted

They are waiting for her as they always seem to be, GS still holding Pip in his grasp.

"Bad news." She wonders at the spring in her step, the return of good humor despite the appearance of Jackus. Or because of it? Didi should be deeper into her depression and frustration at the reveal but instead finds herself excited at the prospect of action. She really does need to have her head examined by someone with the tools to tell her she's not gone nutters.

Pip squeaks when she informs them of Jackus's appearance and the mention of Murta.

"Elian didn't turn us in?" The corbie seems shocked, though GS remains silent and watchful, unmoving. There are times she thinks of him as human, like her and others, such as these moments when she understands to the core of her being he's a machine with a soul. She's not sure which she likes better.
