Chapter 52: Traitor Hormones

Didi barely makes it out into the hall when she runs into Elian. His hands grasp her in the same sure grip Bo's did just a few minutes ago, though there's no tension or trembling, only kindness and a gentle squeeze before he releases her with a slow reluctance she can feel in her own body. Traitor hormones.

"Are you all right?" His concern resonates but she's not willing to dump on him just yet, not when her friends mean more to her-and should, fardle it-than this relative newcomer to her life. Mind you, she's barely known Bo longer than Elian, and the gunslinger the same. But they've been through fire and death and bole attacks together, never mind a space ride cut short by Elian's ridiculously horrific planet.

"Fine," she says, knowing her irritation rings in her voice, but enough said.

"I was coming to see you." He stands politely to one side, gestures as it seems is his way, for her to precede him. "I wanted to invite you to dinner. To talk privately."
