Chapter 74: No One Left Behind

She knew he wouldn't react well and isn't surprised by Bo's instant rejection through the scowl on his face. Even Pip clatters in denial while the thief speaks.

"He's far past saving, Didi." Bo tries to turn away but she doesn't let him, grasping his arm in one hand and holding tight. "For certain Murta's wrung what she can from him by now and he's been slagged."

Does he have proof of that? She shudders an instant before shaking off the fear his words roused. No, he doesn't, the traitorous bagger. If he did, he'd be more certain, more insistent and less looking like he'd rather have surety than this misery of guesswork and betrayal.

Well, Didi won't let Bo's negativity stop her or change her mind, nor the cyber crow she clings to. If that's the case, if her gunslinger is bound for recycle and it's her fault, she'll deal with it when the truth is known. But until she sees his cold, crushed body for herself she's not giving up on him.
