Trash Heaven has been Didi Duke’s home for as long as she can remember. The dumping ground of the galaxy provides her with everything she’s ever needed or wanted. Except, maybe, the attention of her inventor father, always busy with his next creation. Good thing he’s passed on his talents to his sixteen-year-old daughter. With the company of her best friend—the cyborg crow, Pip—Didi is happy to scour her territory for treasures discarded as trash. But, when an evil Underlord kidnaps her father, Didi can no longer hide herself away in the garbage. Her plan to resurrect a retired cyborg gunslinger and rescue her dad leads her into danger and the heart of the rotting planet—Trash City. She’ll figure out the rest of her plan—eventually.

Didi and the Gunslinger

Didi sees her doom at the hand of the gunslinger but she's not afraid. She should be, fardle it all. But she's been through too much to fear anything anymore.


Besides, she can think of worse fates. And if she's meant to die, let it be his hand that strikes her down.


Emily's plan fails her, though not in the way Didi expects it could possibly fail. Not with all those family members throwing themselves into the room, with the mech units firing up their weapons. No, it's not the reinforcements of the cousins and the tech of the Underlords that saves Didi's life.


It's Murta and Ives Jackus. They crash through the ceiling, much as Petal had previously, though without the younger Gont's grace and agility. Murta hits the floor hard, though she seems none the worse for wear, her plasma gun leveled at the gunslinger. It's not until Emily turns, a snarl on her face, attempting to wrench the cyborg's arm around in defense does Didi realize it's not the gunslinger Murta is out to shoot.
