Chapter 96: Happy Ending

Didi tugs at the collar of her formal gown and tries not to feel too uncomfortable about the heavy, jeweled bodice that makes her feel like she's one of the heavy hanging chandeliers.

She misses the thud of her boots-just as faithful as her old, well-loved pair-and the comfort of pants and a t-shirt. Even her goggles are missing, left behind in her dressing room, her hair swept back from her face with a ringlet of diamonds so big they catch enough light they blind her when she looks in the mirror.

Yes, Didi Duke would rather be dressed as she'd choose and tromping around in those boots. But today is a special day. And she won't begrudge her parents their happy ending. Not for anything.

"We're getting married." Petal's announcement was a bit of a shock. Maybe it was the giddy way she informed Didi, clasping her hands tight, eyes glowing her delight and excitement, the firm, kind but powerful leader of the Wanderlords bubbling over with joyful anticipation.
