Attending The Party

Chapter 23

Just as I stepped onto the last step of the stairs, I froze, so many beautiful people wearing beautiful clothes, I shook my head, I look fine, I'll be fine.

I walked into the room full of people with Adam, he waved at his mom, he dragged me toward her, "Hi Mom, what do you think about Avery? Isn't she pretty?"

Mary smiled, "Yes, she is very pretty now. I almost didn't recognize you. I thought I was seeing a double of my dear Adam."

I smiled, "Thank you, I think."

Mary nodded, "You could pass for Adam's twin." She touched my face, "So, pretty and sweet looking, just like my, Adam. You could be a model in the future."

I blushed, "Thank you, but not really, I look average. Adam looks prettier, even though we look a lot alike."

Mary shook her head, "No, Darling, you are very pretty, no need to be modest. Embrace it, own it, don't be shy, the women's body is a beautiful thing."

I blushed even more, "Umm, okay, sure."

Mary sighed, "Darling, did your mother not tell you that you are a very pretty girl?"

I cleared my throat, "I don't know my mother or father, I am an orphan."

Mary raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows, "Oh, I'm sorry Darling, I didn't know. Do you miss them?"

I shrugged, "It is fine, it is hard to miss something you never had, so I'm okay with it."

Adam butted in, "Hey Avery, let's go meet people." He dragged me away, I waved bye to Mary.

I asked, "Adam, do you have any friends here?"

Adam shrugged, "Yeah, I guess, let's go meet some of them." He pulled me into the crowd, stopping to say hi a few times and introducing me to people, then we stopped at a group of pretty teenagers, seriously, they all looked like models. Sigh.

Adam introduced me, "Everyone, this is Avery, she is my friend and roommate." I waved awkwardly, Adam continued, "Avery, this is, Jake Sage." He was about 5'11, red hair, green eyes, and has glasses.

Adam was saying, "This is Andy Maire." She looked about 5'4, has brown hair and brown eyes.

Adam pointed to the last person in the group, "This is John Lawsworth." He was tall 6'3, has black hair and baby blue eyes.

I smiled, "Hi, I'm Avery Bane. Nice to meet you."

Andy smiled, "Hi, Avery. It's nice to meet you too. So, what do your parents do?"

I shrugged, "For all, I know they could be dead, I have never met them before."

Andy said softly, "Oh, I'm sorry. Let's move on to another subject, how did you meet Adam?"

I smiled, "I was walking to school and bumped into him, it was a shock looking at his face, we met for lunch and he got me out of the orphanage by pretending to be my long lost twin brother. What about you guys, what does your family do?"

Jake answered, "My parents write books."

John said, "Tablewear."

Andy smiled, "We run a few colleges on the side but we have hospitals as well."

I smiled, "That's cool." Then I realized I knew nothing about what Adam's family does, "Hey, Adam what does your family do?"

Adam shrugged, "Finance corporation, modeling agencies, and I think some publishing companies."

I nodded, "Cool, I didn't know that."

The night went on with Adam introducing me to new people, to put it simply, it was boring, very, very boring. My shoes hurt and the wig was itchy.

Finally, the night ended, I pulled off the wig putting it on the vanity, and then I took off my dress and kicked off the uncomfortable heels, stumbling into the bathroom I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth, before collapsing onto the bed, sighing, I closed my eyes, falling fast asleep.

And thus, ended my day.
