Chapter 26: The Drums of War

Captain Tansky leaned up against the edge of the conference table in the meeting room aboard Station D-102. Her arms were crossed in front of her as she listened to the incomprehensible sounds being uttered by the Chacona ambassador on the large view screen from the wall before her. She had turned off the audio translation as their syntax was so alien the computer couldn’t compose a coherent verbal sentence. Yet the computer could build a reasonable text translation after the alien finished a paragraph or more.

The Chacona were as alien as they come. Big as a horse, with yellow scaly skin, they had eight limbs that they walked on and used like hands. But it was their heads that would give a person nightmare.Twice the size as a typical human head on an extended neck and a mouth that was more like a snake with short jagged teeth.
