The car stopped abruptly, shaking me out of my focus and shattering the careful bubble I'd made as I slipped out of the stupor of half sleep I found I'd fallen into. More silent cursing followed on my behalf as Leah returned to my side, the car door opening and closing with a muffled thud. Viviana moved through the darkness, past a line of other vehicles toward what looked like a towering, modern church with a massive steeple glowing in red neon.
I think we're harvesting, Leah sent.
What does that mean? It was nearly impossible to pull together the attack I had planned while my head ached from the motion sickness Viviana's rapid steps caused. Damn it, I just needed one tiny break, that was it. Too much to ask, Universe? Seriously.
We're hunting latents, Leah whispered, as if Viviana would hear her. Oh hell no, we were not.
