Chapter 52: Challenge

Trapped, unable to reach past my shields to find out what was going on, I paced the next few minutes away until, not willing to remain in the dark any longer, I leaped from the crib and the protections I'd placed there, exposing myself to the outside world.

Miriam reached for me immediately. Syd. Panic rose in her even as I flashed her the image of her daughter safe and sound in the amber bubble.

Stay with me, she sent then, opening herself so I could see. Two families faced each other, the Puritys flooding our yard while our coven gathered through neighbor's properties, ghostly figures prepared to do battle inside a bubble of magic meant to disguise what was happening.
