Heaven forbid I be allowed out of the next stuffy room Vasek found for us. Despite my new insistence I was perfectly capable, now that I had the proper attire to prowl the streets, Josephine and Vasek demanded I remain behind.
"Brindle knows you," Vasek said, "and you don't know London. You could stumble into trouble and burn the entire city down before we could rescue you."
That old jibe again. As though the loss of his precious club were my fault.
"Just stay here," Josephine said. "We are laying false trails while trying to uncover what Samuel is up to. It's much easier for us to focus if we know you are somewhere safe."
I was not accustomed to sitting and waiting for trouble to come to me. While that may sound arrogant, I was much more likely to seek it out. Mind you, some people I knew, my brothers included, thought of it as a flaw. Myself, I preferred hitting problems head on rather than letting them sneak up behind me.
