Chapter 29: Wrong Impressions

"Wait!" the shrill in my voice stops him but he doesn't look at me. Does he actually think there's something between Skylar and me? Did Zull somehow convince him? I need to explain once and for all. I can't have him doubting me.

Not now, not ever.

Finally, he turns, his reddish-brown eyes capturing mine. He's angry. I can feel it. But there's something else bothering him, something even stronger.

"What you saw wasn't what you think it was." I blurt out.

Dominic turns his head and closes the door behind us but doesn't say a word, standing perfectly still. He's waiting for me to keep talking.

"I-I, crap," I shake my head, "I don't have feelings for Skylar!" I plead, watching his expression change. "I never have, not like that."
