Chapter 4: It's What I Do

"Daddy. Why we leave?" Autumn said clutching onto a bear as we left our apartment. "Because Daddy got his first check from his new job and we can get an actual house." "I like our old house" "I know baby girl" "Will Mommy come to live with us is the new house?" I almost couldn't answer her question once I got a view of her wide green eyes that seemed to water. "No princess she won't. She won't ever live with us." She dropped her head down. I picked her up and put her on my shoulders, trying to make her smile. "Well at the new house you can have your own playground in the backyard and all of your friends can come play." She giggled a little as I buckled her into a car-seat in the backseat of my new black Nissan Altima.

Me and Autumn jammed out in the car to Disney songs all the way to our new home. She was in amazement when we got to the 4 bed roomed house. "I get my own room?" "Yes Princess you do" "Wow" We got settled and after a few days she got her room painted like she wanted, Princess themed with a canopy bed. My little girl would finally live like the princess she is!

~3 years later~

I had went through a lot of hardship raising my baby-girl. The doing of the hair, the best she can get on a good day is a bun and that takes me an hour. The hate i receive just because I have tattoos. I've had 3 home studies done because "mothers" thought I was unsafe, on drugs, and even sexually abusing my daughter. They had no evidence other than my appearance. My job is another hazard, I guess it's not illegal, but to say the least I'm like a secret agent. I'm usually off on missions during the school days and at nights on weekends. I've almost died twice, but it's all for my little girl and the extra physical activity keeps me fit and on my toes, like today;

I looked at my partner as he secured the other end of the rope. I held my nose, pinched it and fanned at the bridge. He nodded as i began to scale down the roof into the building. The room was dark, so I pushed the side of my goggles and the night vision activated. I looked around as I was now close to the ground. No one was here, seemed too easy, I didn't believe it was empty. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out a small glass circle. I looked through it through my night vision goggles and I could see heat patterns of people in what looked like the next room. I tugged on the rope to stop it from lowering, I didn't need to hit the floor. I was about a foot and a half from the floor, so I began to swing until i was close to the door switch, I was about to hit it to get to the package we were hunting...

"Sir! You're holding up traffic! MOVE!" I was taken from my thoughts by a rude woman with red hair. I started to protest, but I just walked into the school cafeteria and took a seat in the back and waited....
