"Two weeks then," Liam said. "Same rate. What happened to all the gear you had?"
"You don't want to know."
"Right, you had to sell it to live in the city. Probably didn't get half what it was worth either." Liam handed them each an ax. "Things have changed. I don't want to be the guy who orders everyone around. So either you work or you don't get fed. You cause trouble and you're out on your ear. Make sure you explain it to your friend there."
"That's Paul, um Squirrel," Daniel said.
"You're kidding." Liam peered at Paul for a long moment. "I guess so, but you sure look different. The eyes I think. I don't think Callam would have messed with you the way you look now."
"I work just the same," Paul said.
"You'd better!" Liam said and gave them a shove. "Go, get swinging those axes."
