A few people in Wellington required watching; certainly, Chief Te Wharepouri had made a mockery of him. Dickie had a long memory and he would deal with anyone who interfered and affected his business operations. Both the Stewarts and Featherstons were a worry also, particularly since their association with Colonel Wakefield meant that he would have to exercise extreme care in how he dealt with them. His attempt at dealing with Andrew Stewart had failed. The two men who had been assigned the task were severely injured and, if they were lucky enough to ever walk again, would do so only with the aid of a cane. Oh yes, he knew the chief was protecting the Stewarts but there were still other ways to deal with the bothersome accountant.
"Dickie, is the game still on tonight?" asked a passing gentleman interrupting his musings.
