Chapter Fifteen:

"Ishida, you have no idea what you've done." I said glaring slightly at the back of his head as he also watched the hollows that were running around town begin to run to the gathering point. He ignored me however and pointed out the obvious to everyone else.

"Look carefully! Those hollows are heading right for that swelling point!" Rukia, Kon, and Ichigo all turned toward the mass heading to the crack in shock. Looking down at the ground I wanted to just cuss all the parties out, but held it in and began thinking over all my options.

Glancing up and taking in Ichigo's appearance as a soul reaper I couldn't help but sigh. About a third of my power was still being used by the suppression spell I cast on his body years ago. His spiritual power along with mine and the awakened powers of Chad and Orihime are going to bring in a Colossal; I was still suppressing everyone to the best of my ability but if I wanted to fight against that beast and also protect Karakura town something would have to give. Whether that be their suppression or the cap on my spiritual pressure I can't be sure which will fall during battle.

"I will win this battle!-" Ishida pulled me out of my thoughts as he stormed up a conventionality located staircase. Looking around I knew he needed a better advantage point since his arrows did have a limit on range. "Over here you hollows! The last Quincy Ishida Uryuu, is your opponent!" he screamed trying to get their attention which made my growl to myself. Currently I still didn't want anything to happen to the boy and him being reckless was not something I wanted to deal with when there was so much at stake already. He didn't know what was coming.

"The last Quincy? What's he saying?" Ichigo mumbled completely confused on what Ishida was talking about. Of course he didn't know that the quincies were wiped out; a deep feeling of shame hit my heart as I thought about my involvement in their fall.

"The fall of the Quincy was two hundred years ago." Rukia began explaining Ishida's legacy to the boy making me grit my teeth. "All the surviving quincy hate soul reapers. The source of that hatred is their two hundred year fall. The quincy's fall all those years ago was due-" before she could even finish I stepped forward gripping my duel swords at my waste.

"It was due to us.-" I took a deep breath feeling Ichigo turn his glare onto me; better to bite the bullet now before the fake reaper butchers it. "Yes Ichigo, my fellow reapers and I wiped out Ishida's race." I looked over to my best friend and watched as his face held hurt and disgust; looking over to Rukia I also noticed her look of bewilderment. "However, it was a difficult choice even for us soul reapers. We had no choice but to destroy them; we had to do it in order to prevent the destruction of the world." Turning to look up at the sky I listened to Ichigo's heart rate begin to skyrocket.

"Here's a little history lesson on the life Rukia has pushed you into; in the soul society, my home, those who belonged to the order of the Soul reapers were commonly called balancers. You see, the amount of souls in this world and in the Soul society are constantly being evened out. If that is not done, the balance between both worlds will collapse; which would cause mutual destruction on both ends. Our job as soul reapers is to constantly regulate the amount of souls in both worlds. Souls released from the Soul society are watched over by reapers and born again as living things in this world; don't worry I doubt you will ever get to this level Ichigo. Souls that die in this world are sent back to the Soul society by us reapers so they can start the cycle all over again. Hollows are not exception to that." I paused for a moment not really wanting to tell him about the reasons Quincies had to die but I pushed through my doubt when he looked like he was actually learning something.

"This whole process has been entrusted to Soul reapers; in short, us. And when the Quincies appeared they began completely destroying hollows which means the souls would never return to the Soul society and those souls would never be reborn. Those souls would be stuck in this world and that would offset the balance. If Quincies would have been allowed to prosper, the Soul society and this world would have collapsed into one another and life and death would have mixed causing chaos. In other words Ichigo, this world would have been destroyed, along with every living thing." I closed my eyes remembering the battle I had fought in to vanquish the race.

"You see, if they had just worked with the Soul society, if they would have been willing to follow our rules they wouldn't have had to of been killed off. But instead they grew in number preparing to completely over throw the balance my grandfather and the Soul society had put in place." Right when I looked down at Ichigo he took off in a sprint in the direction Ishida had run off in. I knew he now pitied the kid and I love that his heart is so big but it really irks me when he just blindly runs off. I started off after him but stopped when Rukia began speaking.

"You really are who you say you are aren't you?" she questioned until her eyes shifted to the ripped and cut up material on my shoulder. "If you are who you say you are then why would you be banished? And how are you not stripped of you powers?" she refocused her eyes on mine and all I could do was smile.

"I have been asking myself that exact question for years. In all these years all I have been trying to do is return home and raise a little hell for gramps himself." I smirked when her eyes widened confused then a small smile settled on her lips. With that I flashed away extending the speed of my ability to its max to arrive in front Ishida who was surrounded by at least twenty hollows. He and I had a strange friendship, if you can even call it that, though both of new we had each others backs in a fight. So when I shifted to stand beside him and drew my twin zanpaktou he simply nodded to me and a wicked smile took hold of my lips.

"Let the game begin!"
