System and a Gift

Qin Yang was currently sitting in a lotus position in his room. He was trying to comprehend all that happened and the information given to him by the Guru.

First of all, he was in the world of Avatar. Second, he became younger and it was going to be a year before the canon starts.

Qin Yang didn't particularly care about Aang and the others, but he was interested in their journey. He didn't intend to follow them, but if fate intends to make their path intertwine, then he wouldn't mind having a fight with their gang.

Suddenly, Qin Yang went under thought, trying to remember something that he forgot before coming here. "Right! I have a system, the power to travel to different worlds, and I'm a god of my own universe!"

"System!" He mentally shouted as would anyone would do if they have a system.

Host: Qin Yang

Age: 14

Attributes:

Strength: 1.2

Agility:. 1.4

Endurance: 1.2

Mentality: 3

Abilities:

Firebending: Level 1 - (0/100)

Waterbending: Level 1 - (0/100)

Earthbending: Level 1 - (0/100)

Airbending: Level 1 - (0/100)

Energybending: Level 1 - (0/100)

(A/N: An average person has only a stat of 1, and ability levels signify how good their skills are.)

"Just above average attributes? Although, my mentality is quite high." Qin Yang sighed, then he suddenly slapped his head. "How could I forget! People here focus on their bending more than physical strength! Even if there are some people who train, they're not very strong!"

He then muttered some words that one couldn't understand and showed a crazy grin. "I look forward to hearing bones break and screams of despair once more."

[Please claim your 1st world gift.]

"Give it." Although Qin Yang was surprised, he immediately became calm.

["Forget-Me-Not" Storage Ring received. Item has been taken from the previous owner and memories about it with them is removed as well.]

"A storage ring with a name?" Qin Yang was a bit intrigued, but he was more interested with it's functions.

The ring was blue in color exuding a jade like luster covered by a decorative golden pattern lain on its outer circle with a small gleaming gem embedded in it and the inner circle of it was fully golden.

He first checked it's size. It was at least the size of a small small house and as usual, it could not store living things. That did not matter as much since he still had his personal universe that he hadn't checked yet.

"This will be useful for surprise attacks and I could store water and earth here to use in bending in case I get stuck in a place without resources." His intelligent and calculative side immediately took over.

...

The next morning.

Qin Yang was currently standing straight in front of the water, his hands were flowing up and down, push and pull, trying to make the water stand up and flow with his movements.

Alas, his effort was in vain because all it did was a small splash of water.

"What am I doing wrong? Wasn't this how waterbenders were taught?" Qin Yang was getting a bit frustrated but not impatient. He tried everything, but nothing was working.

"Stupid waterbending." He punched down on the water and with his above average strength, he created a big enough splash to reach his head and make him completely wet.

Qin Yang: ....

[+1 Waterbending]

"Was fighting the water the answer to getting more skilled? Will I also look completely crazy and fight the other elements?" He thought as he hit the water one more time.

He waited for a while but no sound was heard. Qin Yang stared at the water for some moment and started stripping down to his underwear, he jumped into water and sinked himself to the bottom.

[+1 Waterbending]

[+1 Waterbending]

[+1 Waterbending]

...

[Waterbending has leveled up.]

Qin Yang immediately swam upwards and went back to the shore, panting.

"So that's how it works, I have to literally 'bath' myself in it. Next time maybe I'll walk into a sea of flames and bury myself alive." He chuckled.

"But what about airbending? Aren't I always exposed to air, then why aren't I leveling up?" Qin Yang was a little confused but not decided to overthink about it.

He stood up and and tried to use his waterbending skills to the test again. He waved his hands upwards, making a stream of water stand up, which soon fell back.

He excitedly shouted in delight, "I did it!"

He immediately jumped back into the water and grinded once more. Unbeknownst to him, the Guru was observing him from afar.

"No doubt, the child is a genius in waterbending. Maybe he is the person who would be the Avatar's waterbending master and travel alongside him."

...

Qin Yuan, who had just finished his training, was on his way back to the Eastern Air Temple. The successful training had lifted his mood and he would have trained more if it wasn't for him running out of stamina to continue.

He was now a Level 5 Waterbender and he could say that he was a little better than the inexperienced Katara in the beginning of the canon. However, fast as he was growing, it was also getting slower the higher he goes.

Qin Yang soon arrived in front of the mountains of the Eastern Air Temple and started to look for it's secret entrance.

However, just before he could even get near it, he felt something attacking him from behind as he immediately dodged. As he had expected, medium-sized rocks came flying just beside him.

He jumped sideways and accurately threw some sharpened wood he had made earlier for sneak attacks.

He turned around and heard his attacker grunt and was seemingly hit by his sharp projectile. The person who had attacked him looked like a teenage male. Seeing his green outfit and earthbending that he used earlier, it was quite obvious that he was someone from the Earth Kingdom.

Without giving his attacker a chance to react, Qin Yang used his storage ring to produce the water he would bend. Albeit clumsy and not being able to turn the water into ice, it was enough to throw the man to the ground.

Seeing Qin Yang waterbend, the man immediately raised his hands and shouted, "Wait, it was a misunderstanding! I thought you were a firebender that was going to capture Guru Pathik!"

Qin Yang, who was about to throw another sharp object to the man's head and end his life, immediately stopped. But still raised the weapon and pointed it towards the person's throat.

"Tell me who you are and what are you doing here." He coldly looked at the man that ruined his good mood. Although it was a misunderstanding, if he didn't dodge the man's attack, then his body would have taken a blunt hit which could break his spine, enabling him crippled.

"I'm called Mero from a village near the Eastern Sea, I met the Guru while I was fishing and I got caught in a storm, throwing me to the island of the Air Nomads. That's when the Guru saved my life and since then, I'd visit him every equinox and solstice." Nero was visibly shaking and afraid, but he knew what he did and therefore obediently told Qin Yang what he wanted to know.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to attack you, I just thought that you were a Fire Nation soldier because of your red clothes, who was going to harm the Guru therefore I had to take advantage of the situation." Nero kept explaining but that didn't help Qin Yang's mood. He was debating whether to just kill him but it would seem rude to the person who saved him to just kill his guest.

After a long internal debating, he removed the sharp object from Nero's throat which relieved him. However, Qin Yang wasn't just about to let the man who attacked him scot-free, and hit his right arm, visibly breaking it.

"Gah!" Nero shouted in pain as he held it, but Qin Yang kept a steady, cold gaze.

"Never expect that you can attack me and nothing will happen to you." Qin Yang snorted and Nero just grit his teeth to prevent himself from shouting any longer. "Let's go, if you still want that arm to get healed by the Guru."

Qin Yang walked in front of a wall and pushed a hidden button which made a staircase appear. Nero didn't dare talk anymore in fear of provoking the monster in front of him and only followed him.

...

"You are too violent, child." Guru Pathik was currently tending the broken-armed Nero and suddenly spoke to the sitting Qin Yang.

"I won't tolerate anyone who dares attack me." Qin Yang didn't move nor look at the Guru, he only continued to sit down and meditate.

"Meditating is to calm your mind and spirit. You are doing it wrong." The Guru sighed.

Qin Yang ignored the Guru but not his words. "Tell me Guru, why do you think the Fire Nation started the war?"

Guru Pathik fell silent for a bit before he answered, "Because they wanted to rule the world."

"Your answer is commendable, but wasn't the answer I was looking for." Qin Yang stood up and headed towards the exit, however just as he was about to leave, he stopped in his tracks and spoke in a cold manner.

"It was because they had the ability and enough ambition to do so."

Qin Yang left the room, leaving behind the silent elder and a groaning young man.
