Wyverns

The leaf on trees already started to fall, in their place white furry branches started to grow but this only applied to trees with leaf, the evergreen trees didn't go through such wild mutations.

Jordan appreciated the view while he waited hidden in the high weeds and bushes in a field, currently, he is on a hunt. The wild goblins scouted the area he is in now and they found a layer of flying beasts, unlike the flying beasts in the town those beasts are much bigger and more dangerous.

From what Jordan understood the beasts are big as a house, have fangs as sharp as the best blades, and are most likely dragons or something. The goblins like to make things much bigger than they are. Still, Jordan believed that the beasts are dangerous, after all, they managed to kill some of the wild goblins. If possible, Jordan would like to tame the beasts, but he will settle with killing them if they couldn't be tamed.

The sun was slowly setting down and Jordan watched as the flying beasts started to fly back to the big barn they made into their home, previously there were kept cows there but now… all the cows were hunted and killed.

In the bushes, Jordan conquered his ice lenses and made an improvised telescope ´maybe I should create a spell for this mana telescope, well whatever´ after adjusting the telescope Jordan seized up the beasts in the sky.

Lizard like creatures flew in the sky, instead of front legs the beasts had wide wings, lizard-like mouths with wide mouths and sharp fangs, scales across their bodies, very long neck when compared to their bodies, the flying lizards were only as big as first phase beasts with several meters of wing-spam.

Just as Jordan wondered about how to punish the wild goblins for their exaggeration, he saw another flying lizard beast, this one was huge and truly resembled a dragon.

It was just a big version of the other beasts with only one difference and that was the horns around its head, the beasts had wing-spam of around 18 meters (60 ft) and heigh around 3 meters (10 ft), Jordan greedily checked the beast, ´with this beast I could solve my lack of wings… fuck´

The big beast flew into the barn and after it, several other beasts come as well, few of them were half as big as the big beasts.

The sky was starting to turn black and for some time no new beast flew into the barn, giving a signal to the beasts hidden in the field Jordan started the assault.

Jordan sneaked to the barn while trying to stay as quiet as possible, other beasts and goblins did the same but they fared a bit worse still it didn't matter as the lizard beasts inside were quite rough and even fought between themselves making way too much noise to make them care about outside.

The beasts under Jordan´s control occupied all the escape routes while Jordan together with Max and some other beasts in at least the second phase went through the main door.

After all the beasts got in their positions Jordan made his move that was also another signal at the same time.

Jordan jumped through the main door and fired a basic fourth circle fireball, just by casting this one spell Jordan halved his fourth circle mana reserves.

The fireball spell was one that Jordan made himself, in the fourth circle the spell could be extremely complicated such as the space storage or extremely simple just like the fireball spell Jordan cast, the spell consisted of the first circle that just gave shape and made the parameters of the fireball while the other three circles were basically "2x adds size to the fireball, 1 x makes the flames hotter".

The huge fireball flew through the barn aiming straight for the huge lizard beasts, to make it easier Jordan decided to call those beasts wyverns, the fireball got interrupted by the wyverns between as they panicked and triggered the fireball ahead of time. A huge explosion shook the barn and the few windows that weren't shattered were shattered now. The strength of the fourth circle spell is truly amazing.

About half of the small wyverns died as they were hit bit the blast, the rest, around 20 small wyverns 5 medium wyverns, and the one big one were mostly fine.

Jordan cast his third circle mana shield and threw himself straight to fight with the wyverns, cutting any resistance with his ax or ramming the small beasts with his body.

Thanks to his strength that was finally in the fourth rank Jordan could just bash the small wyvern and they would die, beasts in the first phase no longer posed a problem for him.

Jordan made his way through the burning barn and neared the small wyverns while activating his taming ability by pouring mana to his horns. The small wyverns tried to resist but it was futile, Jordan was in the fourth circle for some time and his mutations were already starting to further mutate thanks to the fourth circle mana, with it the already strong taming ability become even stronger and the small wyverns immediately surrendered.

Seeing the situation the medium-sized wyverns tried to run away, one of the wyverns went straight for the roof and pierced right through it, but instead of escaping the wyvern immediately died, Luna and the other beasts evolved from cats pounded on the wyvern killing it instantly.

After seeing that the other wyverns gave up on escaping through the roof instead they looked around the barn and weighted their chances, it looked like the wyverns are quite intelligent unlike the normal beasts but it was useless as Jordan didn't plan to give them a chance.

With Max and goblins carrying nets Jordan closed on the wyverns and started the showdown. With the medium wyverns occupied by the beasts and goblins, Jordan went for the big wyvern.

The wyvern warily eyed Jordan and Jordan replied in kind looking for any opening. The wyvern thanks to its long neck was slightly higher than Jordan but it didn't matter much as it was only about thirty centimeters (1ft).

Seeing the situation isn't favorable the big wyvern started to panic and just as it did Jordan made his move. Sending mana to his rune on back, with the boost it looked as if Jordan vanished but instead he was stepping in while moving down to avoid the wyvern´s line of sight, Jordan attacked and smashed the wyverns head with the flat part of his ax.

The wyvern stumbled but was otherwise fine, but thanks to the rune Jordan managed to continue with his attacks, smashing again and again until the wyvern swiped with its claws. Partly thanks to being infused with the mana that held the meaning of speed Jordan managed to move his mana shield to block the attack. Sparks were flying around and a few of the hexagons in the shield cracked but overall, the shield held on.

Seeing that the previous attack had little to no effect Jordan let go of the ax and instead jumped on the wyverns back, the wyvern fought and tried to threw Jordan down but it didn't work out as Jordan infused his hands and legs with mana while also letting his claws pierce deep into the wyverns flesh.

Thanks to its size and mass the wyvern were slightly stronger but after several minutes of struggle, Jordan started to overpower the wyvern as its stamina was lacking.

Making use of this opportunity Jordan started to use his taming ability but surprisingly it made the wyvern only angrier, the rodeo went on and every few minutes Jordan used his taming ability, and finally when half an hour passed… The wyvern gave in, completely tired out the wyvern fell on the ground while heavily breathing.

Jordan wasn't faring much better, but he still managed to stay on his legs. With a smile, Jordan couldn't help but think about the exciting vision of him flying through the sky while riding the wyvern.
