Bit of peace

Jordan was ripping apart the pieces of meat with his sharp triangular teeth, this particular piece of meat wasn't from the mountain of meat he prepared beforehand, no, this piece of meat was from his calf, ´is eating yourself consider cannibalism? Well, whatever´ Jordan ate the piece of the calf he ripped from himself and checked his body for any parts that didn't completely awaken their regenerative powers.

To have his body completely awakened to the regeneration (except the brain and center of power) Jordan needs to get rid of any parts that aren't awakened, which includes several fingers and few big chunks of muscles that are spread across his body.

Because of the boosted Demon body, the potion didn't get absolved as it did with the human subjects, Jordan knew that something like that could happen and he did some fine adjustments but still… he didn't have any demon subject from his species, without it, it was impossible to perfect the effects of the potion.

But Jordan is quite satisfied with the result, truthfully its quite a success, just from ripping the pieces of meat from his leg Jordan could watch his new regenerative power, just several second after he ripped the piece of meat of the regenerative process kicked in and in 10 seconds the leg was usable, in half a minute the legs were as good as new.

This new mutation is truly amazing, the only negative thing is that Jordan will have a higher consumption of beast meat, from now on there will need regular meals otherwise the mana consumption will skyrocket.

To make it easy to understand, Jordan has currently capacity for 5 spells in the 4th circle, his base mana regeneration is equivalent to 20 or so fourth circle spells per day, his demon mutations such as horns, claws, the transformation ability, the mana activable black skin on his arms and legs, his body and more spend around 3 spells worth of mana in the fourth circle per day, the regeneration would spend 2 fourth circle spell worth of mana per day if not supplemented with food, with food the regeneration will just drain one-fourth circle worth of mana per day. And when you do the math you will get the result 16 fourth circle spell worth of mana, that´s the mana Jordan can use for other stuff such as research, fights… there are many more things, but that is under the assumption that he doesn't use any third or second circle mana from his center of power, but let's not get into that.

Jordan can use the crystals and partially replenish some of his mana with them, but he isn't rich enough to do that, at most he will use this method when increasing his mana capacity. And in fight Jordan would need around 15 mins to replenish his mana with crystals which is quite unrealistic.

Anyway, when Jordan made sure that his body has completely awakened regeneration he began to eat all the meat that was around, after he ate quite a lot of the meat he felt the energy he absorbed from it, the energy fist settled around his center of power but soon instead of staying in place the energy was constantly dispersing into his whole body, Jordan did not hold onto that energy and instead, he even helped it, soon his whole body was "fed", the cells in his body stored some of the energy and will spend it when regenerating, it was like being fat and having lots of "reserves". It was just that Jordan´s method used a purer form of storing the nutrients.

Just from the amount of mana that is required to maintain the regeneration one can imagine how powerful the regeneration is, with all the cells fully fed with energy from food Jordan is confident in regenerating all his limbs at least two to three times before he will be forced to use mana or the nutrients from his muscles.

Basically, his combat ability skyrocketed, the regenerative power is fitting well into his fighting style and with it, Jordan can now afford to be even more aggressive in fights. With his natural defenses such as the hardened skin that forms armor on his body, Jordan is already quite resistant, now with the regeneration on top of it he can just charge in fights and tank any non-lethal strikes ´shit, it sounds quite painful, am I becoming masochist? Is it because of the mutation? Let´s hope that it´s not the case´

After reassuring himself that he didn't turn into some kind of degenerate Jordan washed his body from all the blood, put on some cloth, and went outside from the basement where William waited.

Before the church, there was supposed to be only William but strangely enough, there was even Mary and Jane. Seeing them all gathered Jordan couldn't help but uncomfortably smile and greet them, he wasn't used to such attention "well… I did it" everyone gathered around Jordan and started to congratulate him, such a warm atmosphere was foreign to Jordan but for now he decided to go with it.

After the mandatory congratulations and questions like "are you all right? Is there anything hurting you?" Jordan finally was set free. The sun was already setting and soon it will be time for dinner, after all the pain Jordan felt before he wasn't in a mood to train so he said the thing he would normally never say. "So, do you want to celebrate with dinner and a drink? I have hidden stash whisky, so we can get drunk"

But looking at William and Mary Jordan stopped himself, those two were still way too young to drink "hmm… I will drink and you can watch, you know what let's just get something tasty" William, Mary, and Jane all looked at each other and nodded, they didn't expect at all for Jordan to invite them for dinner, after all, they only saw him work and train still… they were pleasantly surprised and eagerly accepter as one "Sure! Let´s get something to eat!"

Everyone moved to the town-hall that served as Jordan´s house/office but first Jordan found some human nearby and ordered him to tell the head chef that he is looking for him.

In-office remade into a living room William and Mary were sitting next to each other with Jane and Jordan across them, packs of chips were before placed around together with cola, beer and the old whisky that Jordan was drinking like water, with his extremely rapidly working organs it was almost impossible to get drunk.

At first everyone was kind of awkward as they didn´t know each other all that well so Jordan took out a pack of cards and decided to broke the awkwardness with few games of gin rummy and soon everyone started to enjoy themselves.

Just because Jordan and William are demons it doesn't mean that they can´t have fun, it just that everything is paling in comparison to fights and the sweet negative energy. ´But once in a while, it isn't all that bad to just relax like this.´

Over the course of the game everyone chatted and joked around until the dinner was ready, Jane talked about how who failed and make a mess in their job and William and Mary talked about their funny stories from the camp with Jordan occasionally joining in.

The dinner tasted good, the meat from the third phase beast is amazing on itself, but nothing memorable otherwise. And after dinner, they all played the card game for a bit and started to talk about more serious matters.

Jane talked about how she was treated in the succubus camp and William with Mary talked about their situation at home and about how they were treated by the angels. Unsurprisingly both William and Mary had very difficult lives, William´s parents were violent crack heads while Mary´s parents didn't care about her at all leaving her abusive aunt to take care of her.

With everyone laying their secrets out Jordan decided to share a bit, he told them about his father and that his mother killed herself, but he emitted the detail that she tried to kill him as well and that he watched it all happen. ´I don't know, I just don't feel comfortable with sharing this, this will be my secret forever´

In the end, Mary ended falling asleep in William's lap followed by Jane who was leaning on Jordan´s shoulder. William took Mary to her room and Jordan put Jane on the sofa and covered her with a blanket.

Jordan came to the window and looked outside at the shining moon and the veins in the sky. ´I guess it was a good day today´

While Jordan was looking outside of the window Jane stopped pretending to be asleep and intensely stared at him, capturing the sight and burning it to her memory.
