Chapter 7: Pure Luck

The competition was starting. I had to compete with the maid chief and some other maids. I knew that the competition was going to be tough but I also knew that it was going to be tougher with me competing with the maid chief. There were three parts and they are: cooking, fighting, and cleaning. You are wondering why there is a cleaning part in the competition. I wondered the same thing. Apparently the emperor was a huge clean freak even one tiny speck of dust could get you disqualified from the competition. It was really tough, maids after maids were getting disqualified just because of one single speck of dust. Seeing this I immediately got terrified and nervous. It was finally my turn. Seeing the emperor coming with a stern look made me even more nervous. Fortunately I started a cleaning job when I was very young to help take care of my family, thinking of that I became relieved. I made sure every single corner of the emperor's room was sparkling clean. I didn't mention this before but the cleaning part took place in the emperor's room. The emperor had a poker face, so it was hard to tell if I did a good job or not. When he was done looking and observing my work, he just simply nodded. Finally the results came in. Thinking I was not going to make it to the other round I suddenly heard that the Maid chief, I, and two other maids were engaging to the other round. I was so happy and surprised. I guess the cleaning actually helped me out.
