Lan Xiang and Ye Qingle continued on their quest to exterminate all the ghosts in the school.
"There should be at least 100 ghosts here." Lan Xiang did not know the exact number since he did not know how long Ren Zhao's TV show had been serialized, but based on the fact that he had left for two years, this was the best estimate he could come up with.
"Sheesh, 100 ghosts?" Suddenly, Ye Qingle shivered. She could not even handle a single ghost, not to mention a hundred. "What am I even supposed to do here? My time-stopping technique doesn't work on ghosts."
"Hmmm... I have a plan." Lan Xiang grinned before whispering his plan to Ye Qingle.
"Mhm... oh... nice!"
The pair clasped their hands together. "Let's do this!"
.....
Hello everyone. It is I, the Lonely Old Grandpa Ghost.
For decades, I have been peacefully wandering around the graveyard and collecting people's sadness to maintain my daily life. Sometimes, I also scare people to entertain myself. It gets kinda boring, after all.
However, it was disrupted by this one jerk that one-tapped me with his necklace! Ahh, just thinking of him makes me sick.
Being trapped in the necklace, I could sense my fellow comrades being trapped as well, but the necklace seemed to have compartmentalized us, so we could not see each other.
For what seemed like centuries, I have been trapped in this place where I have been plunged into darkness. Just as I was getting used to it, a crack appeared in the middle of nowhere, light piercing through the small crevice.
Of course, I was afraid of that light. What if they had finally come to exorcise me off this earth?
The crack slowly became wider. Meanwhile, other cracks had appeared in other places, all of the light coming through blinding my eyes.
All of a sudden, the black space shattered like glass and I was embraced by a huge amount of light. I closed my eyes from the shock, and before I knew it, I was in the outside world again, in an unfamiliar classroom.
There were dozens of ghosts floating around like me, seemingly having just escaped the dark prison.
Ahahaha! I have no idea what happened, but I can finally take revenge on that guy that absorbed me into his necklace! If I recall correctly, he was very fat and wore a butler suit.
I immediately headed out the window.
Hissss... Ouch!
As soon as the sun brushed against my ghostly skin, I felt a burning sensation.
I had no choice but to head back in the school to preserve myself.
There, I saw my fellow comrade ghosts wreaking havoc and destroying stuff. They disabled the electricity, threw the chairs, made the lockers fall over, et cetera. I joined them, as finding pleasure in wrecking objects was a ghost's pleasure.
In the end of all this, the redecoration made the school building look like it was abandoned years ago.
Of course, we avoided the windows, as the sun still shone through. The sunlight damaged us.
As soon as I thought of this, the school was suddenly swallowed by darkness. Outside the windows, there was a barrier that prevented sunlight from getting in.
A particularly powerful ghost was residing here.
Hmm... Although I appreciated others' help, ghosts did not have the ability to be generous. In other words, this was done for the powerful ghost's own benefits that just so happened to cross with my own interest.
Even though I was suspicious, it was not like I could do anything about it, so I let it slide and continued on my quest to destroy everything I see.
As I was walking across the hallway, I suddenly saw a pair of humans, a teenage girl and boy. The girl was shivering like it was ice cold while the boy looked like he froze out of fear, albeit in a slightly weird position.
Ahahaha! Perfect prey. How dare you trespass within our territory?!
Before I could get there and scare them out of their wits to harvest their negative emotions, someone else approached them faster than me, seemingly with the same intentions.
Aiya, what the heck?! That is my prey! Where are your manners?
The youngster ghost flashed a middle finger before me as he proceeded to get closer them.
I cursed the youngster in my mind, but I was helpless. He was fast, I was slow, I could do nothing about that.
And so, I watched from a distance as he approached the trembling girl with a huge grin on his face, one that reached up to his ears.
Hmph, face distortion. Oldest trick in the book.
The girl closed her eyes.
When the youngster ghost got close enough for her to feel his presence, she suddenly snapped her fingers.
The boy who was frozen in place suddenly moved, as he accurately pierced his finger towards the youngster ghost's chest!
I watched the youngster ghost shriek as he dissipated into the wind.
"Our plan worked!" The girl and the guy did a high-five.
"Stupid ghosts."
I clenched my fist. These smart alecks!
While cursing them in my mind, I suddenly felt someone's gaze point towards me. It was the human boy's.
Sh*t, they've seen me! They're going to exorcise me!
I immediately ran away from where the youngsters were.
Weirdly, the hallway became increasingly more quiet. I expected it to be congested with other ghosts since I planned to use some as distractions.
"...There you are!"
Ah! They're catching up!
I tried to run even faster, but these old ghost legs of mine didn't allow it.
All of a sudden, a ghost comrade in the form of a human-sized spider appeared.
"Ah, thank f*ck, I have bait now!"
Before I could execute my plan, the huge spider ghost lunged towards... me?
In one swift action, the huge spider ghost completely engulfed my entire body.
Ahhh! What, what the f*ck are you doing?!
Intense pain coursed through my body while the spider chewed on me like a gum...
I felt my vision going dark.
Am I... going to die again? My consciousness faded away...
Lan Xiang and Ye Qingle halted their footsteps before taking a few steps back.
"Did, did that spider just eat the old ghost?" Lan Xiang could not believe what he had seen.
"Yeah, I think so..."
Lan Xiang raised his eyebrow. "Let's get him while he's preoccupied with eating!"
Before they could commence with their attack, the spider glanced at them with its eight eyes. Right after, it scurried away.
"!!!" Ye Qingle ran after it. "It's getting away!"
Lan Xiang grabbed her hand. "Shush! There are too many ghosts here! We're gonna agitate them all if we were to run through the hallway."
She bit her lip.
He continued, "We can't chase after ghosts here. Let's just systematically exorcise them one by one. We'll eventually run across that huge tarantula ghost again."
Ye Qingle took a deep breath. "Okay."
