Jason and I walked to my house after school, talking about random things and making plans to go to the ocean. We stopped outside, looking at each other.
"So-" There was a loud crash inside my home causing us to look. I could hear my aunt screaming and loud bangs following. Without thinking, we ran inside to see three guys in white suits fighting my aunt and uncle.
"Atlanteans." Jason grabbed a broken chair, hitting one guy over the head.
"Princess, you must return to Atlantis. The king requires your presence." Another white suited guy approached me. His helmet was full of water with a very blue appearance. They couldn't breathe on land?
"She's not going anywhere!" My aunt smacked him over the head, breaking the glass that held the water in. The water began pouring out and the guy collapsed, gasping. A hand grabbed me, throwing me against a wall. I yelped, falling to the floor.
"Blake!" Jason jumped over the couch, punching the glass of the helmet that belonged to the guy who threw me. My uncle finished the last guy and everyone stood around, huffing. Jason helped me up, checking me for wounds.
"Who are they?" I flinched.
"Guards of Atlantis, the lost city. Your father is their king." My aunt told me.
"Why were they fighting us?"
"Your parents don't want you in Atlantis. It's too dangerous." My uncle kicked a broken table. Our house had been trashed.
"Have you spoken to them recently?" I watched my aunt.
"Yes." She hesitated at first then looked to me. "There is a war coming. Brought on by your... brother." Brother? I felt as if someone had shot me. I moved backwards from the imaginary impact.
"A war of the land and the sea."
"Wait a minute. You knew this whole time that I had a brother and never told me?" I huffed.
"He can't breathe the air like you can. Not that we know of, at least. And we tried to keep you away from the ocean." My uncle spoke.
"Why? If this is what I am supposed to be, why keep me from it?" I frowned.
"For your safety." She looked sad. "And because as soon as it happened, you became in danger and will have to fight a war you didn't know about." I looked out the broken window, hearing a roaring sound, at the same time as Jason.
"Do you hear that?" I whispered. The ground started to rumble and through the window, I could see waves. Huge, monstrous, waves. There was no where we could go in so little time. The waves towered over every building and over the large hill that our house was on. The waves crashed into our house, breaking the other windows and knocking down our door. I could feel glass cut up my arms and face as the water rushed around me and pulling me out of the house.
"Blake! Where are you?!" Jason yelled. There was trash and debris everywhere. Innately, I got a foot hold on the ground and threw my arms out on either side of me. A small circle formed around me, pushing the water away. My legs didn't change, which surprised me. I pushed outward more, creating a larger circle where I found my aunt and uncle lying on the ground. Jason suddenly burst into the circle, hitting the ground with his shoulder as if he didn't know the circle had formed. He rolled across the ground then looked around as the water rushed around the circle and above us with a roar. I struggled to keep the water away, my energy draining quickly.
"Ahh!" I yelled, my body shaking as I tried to keep the walls up. I closed my eyes, focusing. Soon, I could feel the water calming down. When it stopped, I fell to my knees, breathing heavily. Arms wrapped around me, supporting me as my vision darkened from exhaustion.
"Good job." Jason said in my ear. "You saved your aunt and uncle."
