Chapter 16 Adam Jameson

Joshua dribbled the ball and position himself to throw a three-point shot. In his right peripheral view, he could see Adam sitting on the corner of the bench alone. He was watching them play like some professional game critics observing their every move. If he likes the game so much why did he not joined this year's tryout? He only appears this school year and even though they are classmates in all his subject because he took the same academic strand as his, he did not capture his interest until Steph told him that he is hitting on Veronica.

Joshua still could not seem to figure out how did Adam had Vee's clothes with her thong and brassiere on his car that day. Did he go to Hannah's house to stalk her and when he found out that the girls were drunk and saw Vee's clothes and took it? Maybe he is a perverted psychopath or something who showed a brilliant person as his pretense but secretly he preyed on teenage girls or maybe Veronica lied to him. If it is the first, he will surely know sooner or later, he is not going to give up until he will uncover Adam's demon and if it is the latter, he don't know what he should do.

Instead of shooting the ball right into the basket, he chest-passed it to Adam with the intention to catch him off-guard but he was wrong. Adam catch the ball without even blinking, he didn't seem to move a muscle.

"Oh, that was snappy! You seem to be very interested Adam; do you want to play?" Joshua said with dark intentions.

"Yoh, Come-on down Einstein", Brian shouted.

Adam did not respond. He looked at Joshua straight to his eyes with his emotionless aura. He stood up and from his position he threw the ball right into the ring and ....

Shoot!

That was incredibly smooth, even Joshua could not pull that trick, that was way too far from the ring. The cheer dancers who were practicing at the side of the court did not miss the show and applauded.

"Adam! Adam! Go Adam! Go Adam! Go! Go! Go!", they dance to cheer for him.

Adam picked his bag and walked out of the gym like nothing happened.

"Freak", Joshua said in his mind.

"Did you see that? That was amazing man!", Jack said.

"Oh, c'mon he was just lucky", He reasoned. He could not accept the fact that Adam managed to impress everyone in the gym in an effortless manner.

"Let's finish the play and then we'll continue tomorrow", he continued, urging the team to forget Adam and focus on the game. This is their last game; half of the team will graduate this year. Joshua could not risk losing his chance to mark a legacy but also, he can't just ignore Adam.

...

Adam walked out from the gym, but he did not go far. He sat on the bench along the hallway where he could see the entrance of the gym. He almost give-in earlier but he should focus on why he is there in the first place. He pulled out his notebook and pretended to read while carefully watches who enters and leave the gym from time to time.

Not long after, Stephanie and Veronica walk passed him. They don't notice him because his face was slightly covered by the notebook he is holding and there is a crowd beside him covering his figure.

He still have unfinished business to deal with Veronica but he can't find time to catch her alone, she seemed busy these past few days. From the moment he saw Veronica and Joshua together he knew there is something off with their friendship and whatever that is he will surely know soon enough. Stephanie is a thorn in his way but he thinks she can be useful.

The two did not enter the gym but sat down beside Hannah not far from him, he knew for sure why. Alicia was there inside and funny but Joshua's girl friends don't get along well with his girlfriend.

What a coward! He knew that Joshua doesn't have a tiny feeling with his rich brat lover and he wonder how did he manage to live his life like this and endure the pressure. On the contrary he appreciate his courage, he must have a great motivation or just a strong will to live.
