The acceptance

Alanis.

"Father,'' I repeat, I can't get over the shock of seeing him here. He is dressed in a black suit. It seems like he just came straight from the office. The expression on his face is different from the one he usually has. The confidence, pride. It seems to be gone at this moment. I don't know why he is here but it seems like Darrien knows.

"Hello son,'' he smiles nervously.

Why is he nervous?

Sheesh, I have too many questions but I can't leave him standing out here. This is the first time; he has made an attempt to get to know this side of me. he was never accepting of it all and now he is here—in the community.

"Come in,'' I give him space to enter and he nods his head. Our walk back to the house is quiet. I don't know what to say, I don't want to say the wrong things. I want this visit to go as smoothly as it can. I want him to leave here understanding me.
