Chapter 48 – Schemes

Aile then used his hearing to trace the person to the rough location of the young master. He was closer than Aile expected only about 10 minutes away from Siren's Song. There he also located the assassin.

"Young master, young master we got good news!"

"What is it?"

"We found them."

"What?"

"We found the 2 kids, lady and guards that you were looking for."

"Really?"

"Yeah, they are at Siren's Song and Alfredo is keeping an eye on them."

"Good, good, good."

Then the voice of the assassin came, "Young master, I will go and keep an eye on him, and I will find out what he liked so that we can bait him to meet the princess for your plan."

"Hehe, you can go. If you succeed, I will reward you!"

"Thank you!"

Hearing their conversation, Aile had a mocking smile on his face. Then his expression turned to an evil smirk. He had just made a plan to reap some benefits from their plan.

He thought, "To think that they will solve my problems, hehe."

He then got dressed and went out of his room.

"Knock, Knock,"

"Knock, Knock,"

"Who is it?... coming!"

One of the guards opened the door and was surprised to see Aile.

"Hey, what do you want?"

Aile replied in a domineering tone, "You come with me!"

"What?"

"I need to go outside, and I want you to come with me."

"Why?"

"Well, Hazel did say I need to tell someone if I go out, and here I am telling you. My responsibility is done?" Aile then turned around, walked and muttered in a low volume, "Who knows if it will be dangerous this late at night?"

Hazels head guard was annoyed, he was being blackmailed. He knew that now he had to follow him. If anything happened to Aile, then he will be in far deeper trouble. He was irritated, but he could not do anything, so he shouted, "Wait!"

Aile smirked hearing him, he did not turn around and just waited for him.

Soon he heard the unstable footsteps of someone, he saw the guard wearing his shoes as he walked towards him in a hurry. He arrived next to him and said with a smile, "You are a lot smarter than most people your age. Most people are wrong about you."

Aile ignored his comment and smiled back and said, "Do not worry, we will be back soon."

They walked outside, and Aile made himself bigger and acted a bit more animatedly to gather the attention of the assassin. The assassin had just arrived here.

With Hazel's head guard, he was not worried that he would be in danger, now all he has to do is carry out his plan. Then he heard, "Alfredo you stay here and keep an eye on the others. I will follow that bastard."

Aile walked slow enough for the assassin to see him and start to follow him.

Hearing the assassin was baited he smirked, Aile started to head towards the closest book store. He went into the book store and asked questions loudly about the Ingredient-Concealing Rune book. As he expected there were no books on that, the book store did offer other books, but he was not interested, he knew that he would not be able to get new information from them.

Like this, he went to a few shops and asked about Ingredient-Concealing Rune books, and they did not have them. One of the more honest-looking shopkeepers pointed him towards the Alchemist union.

After the fourth shop, he did not continue to put on an act and headed towards Siren's Song. Soon he saw someone gesturing him to come to an alley. He smirked and walked towards the assassin in disguise.

Once he was in the alley, the person said in a flat and quiet tone, "I hear you are seeking the Ingredient-Concealing rune book."

Aile questioned him, "How do you know?"

"I have my sources, but it is good news for you, I can help you find it."

Aile shook his head in denial, "Do not need it anymore."

Aile walked out saying, "Everyone thinks they can bullshit me, haha, you can find the ingredient concealing rune book for me in an alley?"

He knew that they had put a lot of effort into this plan and would not give up. Plus a little denial would only make it believable.

The assassin had prepared for such a situation, "I can bring you the proof by tomorrow morning."

Aile acted interested yet distrustful at the same time. He said in a somewhat flat tone, "Really, then I will be waiting! I will come out in the same place early morning. If you have proof, then we can meet here."

The assassin nodded in happiness because he believed that his plan succeeded, and Aile smiled back too because his plan worked. They both looked happy as both of them thought their scheme was successful. All the while, the guard that has been walking with him became confused.

He saw him walk into shops with no intention of shopping. He knew this because Aile would not even ask the shopkeepers about where he could find the Rune book. The guard had been with Aile for a while, and he knew how he regularly acted.

However, today Aile did not act anything like his usual behaviour, he was portraying a different persona. So he became confused about what he was trying to accomplish.

He finally thought he figured out what he was doing when the man approached them about the possible location for Rune book.

He thought that he was trying to locate the black market this way. He was impressed. However, then he saw his nonchalant attitude towards the guy who he believed to be the black market connection, he began to doubt his prediction.

As they walked away from the deal, he had a curious look. He was hoping for Aile to answer his queries. Aile noticed his expression but did not have any intention to sate his curiosity.

They reached back to Siren's Song. Aile looked at his curious expression but did not care and said, "See you tomorrow, we will go there in the morning."

Then he went back to his room. He heard the assassin go back to his young master and tell him that his plan succeeded, and they would also need the ingredient concealing rune book from there. Of course, they never intended to give it to Aile, they just wanted to use it as a lure.

Aile smiled, his day was very successful. He continued with his training for the night.

He finished training after midnight, he then laid on the bed looking up and hoping that his plan would succeed. He was going to face people at a higher level, and he planned to take something they did not intend to give to him. So he was worried about how he will fare. He had a plan to stay safe, but if it failed, it would be problematic, and his strength could be known by others. As he will be going as Aile and not as "Shadow".

After some time passed, Aile sighed, he knew that he could not do anything apart from sleeping to make sure he was fully recharged for an eventful day tomorrow.

He laid in bed and could not sleep initially, but once he started to meditate and calm his mind, he slowly drifted into a restful slumber.

He woke up again to a warm sensation on his face. The gentle sunlight came through the window of his room, making him feel warm and prompt him to wake up.

He stretched his hand and slowly came down from his bed and using a few water, fire and air gather runes, he washed himself and his clothes.

Aile then started to meditate; starting his daily training. After some time passed, he heard the door of Sara open, and he knew she would come to his room. So he went to his door and opened it as she reached it.

Sara smiled, hugged him, then entered his room.

"Hey, Aile."

"Hey, Sara," said Aile with a smile.

"I am going to meet my half-brother today. What should I say to him?" said Sara enthusiastically.

Aile had a complicated expression. He was a bit jealous and at the same time worried for Sara. He did not expect her half-brother to be good.

Realizing his jealously, he was not sure how to guide her. He thought perhaps because of his enviousness, he was looking at things in a negative light.

He sighed and said with a forced smile, "You should act as you are, I am sure everyone will like you."

"Really?" said Sara in an optimistic and happy tone.

Aile nodded.

They talked for some more time until everyone was going for breakfast downstairs.

Everyone quickly had their breakfast. After it, Hazel said to Aile and two guards that she, Sara and the three guards will be leaving during the day to meets some people and that they should not cause trouble. She specifically, looked at Aile and said, "If you are planning to leave outside, make sure you take the guards with you."

Aile nodded, Aile then looked at the guard he took with him yesterday and smiled.

The guard had a bit of an annoyed expression and nodded. He knew that today was the time he had planned to meet that person who had a possible connection to the black market and he expected Aile to him there again.

Soon Sara and Hazel left to meet Duke White's second son.
