Chapter 72 – The talk

They reached the end of the alley and Aile extended his senses to make sure that no one was close by. He then went close to Ellie and whispered, "If you want to return to Diana, there is a way, and I can help you. However, you will have to leave Marcus and not return to become a mercenary."

Ellie had a surprised expression, "What? Are you sure?"

Aile nodded.

"Hem!" Ellie pursed her lip while thinking. Unbeknownst to her, a slight smile of happiness had formed on her lips.

Aile soon heard footstep coming towards them in a rushing manner. He discerned that it was Violet.

It did not seem that they will have their peace talking here, and it was not an easy decision to make for Ellie. So he said to her, "Tell me your answer by tomorrow morning. I will wait for you here."

Then Violet came and directly swung her fist to hit Aile. Aile was surprised and easily dodged it. Then a kick was coming for him at the side.

Aile used his forearm to block the kick when another fist was about to reach his chest. Aile was not adept at defence.

But at the same time, he could not go on offence. Although Aile did not know why she was angry at him. However, Aile knew that she was not a terrible person, if he uses his cultivation strength, he can accidentally kill her.

He has only practised fighting against cultivators and not against people without energy. Thus he would not know how much strength to use.

So he used his hand without the energy to block the punch aiming for his chest. Then her other fist came for his face.

Aile held her other hand too. Then she tried to kick and knee him, he quickly stood on her feet, preventing her from moving them. He then said, "Calm down! Why are you trying to hurt me."

"Do not try to act dumb, I saw what you did."

"What?"

"You kissed her."

Aile had a surprised expression he thought what was she talking about.

Ellie shouted, "We did not kiss. Stop making stuff up."

Violet replied, "Do not be scared, I will beat him, no need to hide it. I saw him lean in and kiss you. I will not let this devil spawn get away with it."

Aile realized that when he was whispering to her, from afar, it could be interpreted as a kiss.

Ellie was angry and pointed at the awkward way that Aile was holding Violets two hand while standing on her feet. Making it awkward and weird and said, "You are the one that wants to kiss him, look at how close you are to him."

Violet immediately realized her compromising position and struggled free. Aile did not stop her, her cheeks became red. Aile did not need to be here anymore and looked at Ellie and silently mouthed, "see you tomorrow."

It did not go unnoticed by Violet, but she was ashamed to point it out. Then, Aile went back towards Siren's Song.

Violet then looked at Ellie and said, "Do you like him? He just got married, and you are kissing him in secret."

Ellie was fuming, but she also knew that Violet would not change her mind no matter what. Since Violet seemed convinced, Ellie knew that she was stubborn and would not be persuaded to believe nothing happened. She replied angrily, "At least I am not forcing him to hold my hands and body close. How did that feel? This was the first time I saw you blush. Do not tell me you already fell for him. He just got married."

Aile returned to his room and noticed that Laila and Leia had not returned yet. So he went to take a bath. Once he was finished, Aile noticed that the room was a bit noisier and figured that Laila and Leia had returned. He got out of the bath, wore his underwear and pants. Then went to his room.

Leia blushed a little seeing his upper body but her eye glued on to his chest tattoo.

Aile had noticed her reaction and said hello to them. He did not have enough contact with people in this life or in his inherited memories, so he was unaware of these possible awkward situations.

He then went to get dressed for the princess's party tonight.

While he was getting dressed. Laila and Leia were talking.

Laila said, "What is happening Leia?"

"He came out of the bath and is getting dressed."

"Go and help him, that is what wives are supposed to do."

"Laila, I do not know how to do that. Should I help him the same way I help you."

"I do not know... yeah... you should help him how you help me."

"Ok."

Aile had found his shirt and overwear as he was going to wear it a hand-blocked him. It was Leia's, and she took his clothes from him.

"Let me help you."

"It is fine, I can do it."

"Now we are married, so let me help you."

Aile was not sure of everything that marriage entailed, so he agreed thinking that it was part of the pact. Then Leia made him sit in the bed, close to Laila. She then very gently put on his shirt and overwear. She dusted it off a little and used her hand to blend the creases off.

She then asked Aile to stand, and she said, "Very nice, you look great now."

Laila asked, "Where are you going, Aile?"

Aile explained how the princess organized a special celebration and invited him and Sara. Laila had no reaction about not being invited to it. After all, it is the princess's birthday, and she did not want to get on her radar again so soon. The princess was not happy today as a result of her marriage proposal, and Laila felt it, so she was glad that Aile was going there alone. In fact, she was worried that the princess might make things hard for him.

Laila asked, "What gift are you going to give to her."

Aile went to the corner of the room and took the ancient-looking herb grinder and started to describe it to her. While Leia chimed in as well making it more vivid for her.

Laila asked to see it.

Aile gave it to her, and she felt it all around and then said, "Why does it smell so weird?"

Aile immediately remembered where he had hidden it and without explanation, dragged Laila to the bathroom and washed her hands. Then, he rinsed the grinder.

Laila said that it still smelled a little.

Aile nodded, he could smell it too without enhancing his sense.

Aile helped Laila back into the bed and bid both of them farewell.

Then Aile walked towards the hall where Hazel invited the royals for dinner last night. He reached the same entrance and the two ladies welcoming the guests, were the same ones from last night.

They came and said hello to Aile and recognized him.

Aile told them that he can find his way, and they should not be troubled.

They nodded; they knew that tonight was a celebration of the princess's birthday. Therefore, they did not want any guest to wait outside. If one of them accompany's a guest, then the other one has to wait until she returns to take the next guest inside.

Aile, of course, had a reason to enter like this.

Once he was far away from the entrance, he looked around and noticed he was alone. He then picked a few flowers and rubbed it around the grinder to fully get rid of the rubbish smell.

He was smart enough to use yellow flowers so that if there is a residue, it would be similar to the grinder's golden colour. He smelled it and noticed it was very fragrant now.

Soon he reached the door of the cottage and entered. He got the same feeling of extravagance as before. Only this time when he entered the hall, he heard the murmur of a lot of people.

A maid soon came towards Aile, "Welcome."

Aile then faced her and asked in a calm tone, "Can you tell me where the princess is at?"

The maid was surprised. Usually, nobles just demand stuff from her. This was the first time she had seen a noble that was so polite when speaking to her.

She then had a genuine smile for the first time tonight and pointed at one of the halls.

Aile nodded and headed in that direction.

The cottage had three halls. Usually, in gatherings, the first hall would be used for introductions and general discussion.

The second hall was where everyone eats.

The third is where people would have a drink and dessert with the host. However, most of the people leave after they had the food. Only a select few would have the honour to stay after the meal.
