Chapter 109 - Behind Duke White's Soul Lock

There was another soul in the shape of a person behind Duke White's seal. He was the consciousness of the body's original soul. Over the years Aile had tried to absorb it, but something kept on protecting it, and now it had finally taken shape.

Once he reached the 4th stage of cultivation the energy that diverted to his soul, a portion was absorbed by it, allowing it to create an appearance.

Aile could not make the consciousness disappear, and at the same time, he felt a little guilty as he had taken the consciousness's body. Aile did not constrain him too much initially, and he wanted to find a better resolution.

However, now he had interfered with his emotions. Hence, he could deal with him with less guilt and avoid such an issue from popping up again.

The problem was he was limited on what he could do. Whatever that was protecting him before was still doing it. So he could not get rid of him. Aile did not know any sealing technique or method to stop him. The only solution he thought of was to patch Duke White's seal. But that would be just as dangerous. This is because Aile would also not be able to see if the seal could actually affect him.

Would the thing that protected his soul from Aile's attacks also safeguard the body's original soul behind Duke White' seal? If that was the case, then Aile would allow it to develop unhindered and without supervision.

The fact that he could not absorb the consciousness was also a cause for concern, so he had less fate on the seal as a result of this. Another problem was that if he puts him behind Duke White's seal, he could no longer monitor it.

If he maintains the crack in Duke White's soul lock seal and monitors him, the consciousness would have a little manipulation over his emotions. He had another solution which was to use the Heavenly Myriad Book of Stars to find a sealing technique. However, that would be a waste of the precious energy that he has gathered, he left that as a last option.

After a few seconds, a somewhat of a childish voice came, "Hehe, you came!"

The black and white soul of Aile got up and moved and said, "We had a deal, you should not have interfered with me."

The childish voice had an annoyed tone and said, "You took away my ability to see, hear, taste, and now what should I do. I was bored, plus I just increased the intensity of your emotions, so what is the problem with that."

"I do not like to be influenced; you know that?"

"I also know that you will not let me live. So, what is the problem of having a little fun."

"I do not want to be against you. Once I find a solution, I will try to help you as compensation for taking your body."

"Liar... We both know that you will not let anyone know of your secrets, so how can you let me go?"

Aile did not respond, he was right, he did not want anyone to know all his secrets.

The childish voice came again, "How about a deal?"

"What?" Aile asked curiously.

"You should let me see, taste food and hear songs. You already have my body, so let me at least have these feelings. Plus we had been sharing our senses for so many years, and it was not a problem."

Aile just sighed he did not feel comfortable with another person seeing what he sees and feeling what he feels. The soul had access to his senses for all these years as he had not broken the soul connection. However, now that he had full control of the body, he had lost his access to the senses.

The childish voice had a self-deprecating laugh and said, "I already knew that you would not accept it, and I have prepared a better deal?"

Aile was interested and nodded so that he can continue.

"Well have you ever wondered why you could not get rid of me? I can tell you that I have an inheritance that was left for me. It has more functions than the ability to protect me. I can give them to you, and there is an important piece of information about Laila and Leia that you will be interested in. There is also information about myself and why I was placed at that cave."

Aile asked, "And you want to connect with my sight, hearing and taste in return for these?"

"Not all the time, for a limited time every day, but I will be making requests from time to time, and you have to fulfil most of them? you should know that I will not make a request to put us in harm's way, just simple stuff..."

Aile suddenly had an idea, what if he can get his ability to protect the soul and gave to Sara. Then her soul would not be in danger.

"I will do the deal, but you have to give me the thing that protects your consciousness. I will put a fate seal on myself not to harm you, so you can rest assured."

"If you are thinking of using it on Sara then you better reconsider, it will not work for her. This inheritance will only defend me... well, it can protect you too as you have a large portion of my soul now. See I do not want our relationship to sour, I have given up on such an opportunity. I could have probably gotten my freedom if I really negotiated with you..."

Aile became downcasted because Sara's problem was not solved. He was no longer in the mood to chat with him. Aile could not do much about him anyway. After understanding his goal, he was not too concerned.

Now he has to make the decision of whether to invest in the sealing technique from the Heavenly Book of Myriad Stars or give in a little to the consciousness and learn more about the body's origin and the possible risks to Laila and Leia.

"Before leaving, I will give you something, and you better make your decision to help me quickly. As the information I know about Laila and Leia can be critical for them and possibly even you."

Aile then received a cultivation manual called Light of Absolution, and he left the soul space. He was curious about what the soul could possibly know about Laila and Leia. But nonetheless, Aile had to find out, he could not ignore such a warning.

Plus now, he had already gotten a benefit from the talk: a cultivation system for the light element. He can just improve that to save energy. Of course, he was going to upgrade it with Heavenly Book of Myriad stars to avoid possible cultivation traps in it.

He sighed, the soul knew him too well as he had seen him behave for the past 17 years. This was also the reason he did not immediately agree to his request as it would make him think that he had gotten Aile's weakness, and he could demand more.

His offer seemed harmless, all he has to do is allow him to look around for a few minutes every day or taste some food, it would not be harmful to him.

As for the requests, he can always deny it, if it is something that will affect his plans. He decided to give his answer sometime later to not seem desperate. For now, Aile wanted to rest a little and then go to the adventure tomorrow to collect soul type herbs.

Aile had a few things in his mind, he was thinking about the new adventure's union that had been trying to take a piece of the market.

He was considering if he should infiltrate them or create a different adventurers union. Aile could take one, two, three, and four with him under the new adventurers' union's name and make a name for themselves on this occasion.

Or maybe he should go with Hazel and show their strength together. But that would only make her as more of a threat to the royals and White Clan.

It was not long before Diana with food came, following her was the girl she took in. She did not take a name just like One, Two, Three, and Four. She called herself Zero. She said that she wants to be treated the same as them, and she will earn her name.

Their evaluation would be in 2 months, and she too had been training hard to make sure she does not remain weak and get a name from Aile, by the end of it. Aile gave her a quick look and noticed she was no longer scrawny. She now had fully recovered and with Diana's care looked like a young noble maiden.

Aile's gaze quickly went back to Diana and gave her a close examination. Diana noticed it and blushed and placed Aile's food in front of him. She had been emotional ever since their passionate encounter not long ago.

With a rumble of his stomach in protest, Aile's concentration came back to the food. It was meat with mushrooms and a savoury sauce. Aile started to eat with impatience, as it was tasty and it was prepared by Diana, herself. Halfway through, he saw Diana's plate remained full.
