Chapter 26

One can see a pillar, beautifully decorated with phoenixes and Kunpeng-like legendary creatures all the way from the abacus down to the base. Let not this marvelous cast take away your attention as its base was the vital part, pulling away the magnificence in the atmosphere like a tornado tugging the turbid winds to its eye. Only a dekko was needed to stir up the winds in onlookers' heart with her enchantress's demeanor. She stood ever so elegant to the fore of the pillar. Her name, Yu Yan, was a perfect demonstration of her smile that created the éclat onto the beholden.(PS: I give up, I'm not trying to write a best seller)

The young lady was the daughter of Yu Bolin, and the little princess of the Yu clan. At this time, she was rest on one of the pillars guarding the entrance to the city mayor's home. All who passed only gave a quick glance at her and continued in their way lest they offend her but her beauty remained in their mind. She was the only daughter of the city maoyor and a proud genius in the eyes of everyone who lived in the manor, however no one knew how feisty and stubborn she was at heart under her calm demeanor. At this time, the housekeeper came close and told her her mother was calling her.

After a calm sweep at outside the building, she walking in, enjoying the bows of the servants working in the mansion. It wasn't until long that she reached the dining room. It was a long table lined up with all kinds of fruits and spirit plants, gorgeously placed along the corners of the table. Servants stood lined up across the wall with straight positions and unflinching expressions while the housekeeper stood right behind the madam of the house. She was a mature beauty that looked 80 percent like her daughter she felt holier. Both daughter and mother were seated in one corner of the table while perpendicular to each other.

"How is your training coming along?"

"I think it's ok, mother. My third vulture sword technique is almost reaching consummation."

"Your father will be proud. It has been too long since he went out to try and break the formation on the devil's treasure, it might take a while for him to come back to train well and impress him."

"Yes mother."

"So anything got your interest these past few days?"

"Nothing, same as usual."

"Oh kid, why are you always jumping around? Why can't you just cultivate in quiet for just one day. You know we live isolated in the Tenghu mountains far out in the desert so nothing is expected to happen in backward waters. So just concentrate on training. If you had, maybe you would be at fourth consummation."

"Ok, mother. I will do my best."

The mother sighed, knowing that she will forget this conversation in a few days. She gave up and started some small talks with her. When the topic of Jerry came up, they talked about him for a bit then moved on to another matter. They both agreed this mortal had stolen from the servants and was going to pay for it the next month.

"Why didn't you throw him into jail and gave him four weeks."

"Actually it's interesting, he said the thief would return in four weeks and that would prove his innocence. Otherwise I would take away the devil's key for wasting our time. "

"Where do you think he got it from?"

"Probably from Shang Fei, I heard him and Shang were close."

"I guess so. Anyway don't care about these mortal matters and concentrate on your training."

It wasn't long and both mother and daughter separated and returned to their rooms.

At this time, Jerry visited Shang to gain some basic knowledge of the so called cultivation . With hands behind his back. He strode towards Shang's abode. It wasn't anything spectacular. It was a thatched house with white and red paint on the outside and bright yellow thatch on top that protected one from both the cold and outside heat. As soon as one entered, they would be immersed in a strange scent of herbs and burned cinder, just like an alchemist's workplace.

This wasn't the first time he visited but every time he did, he always felt his inner wounds and and mind clear for a while. It always felt like the elements were harmonized together and creating a beautiful symphony that formed a heaven on earth, at-least that's what he felt every time he came to visit. At this time, an old man was siting by a cauldron meditating while a green fire was burning underneath the cauldron. It looked bizarre for first comers but it didn't even shake the visitor's heart as he immediately sat down in a comfy chair and waited on the old man.

A few minutes later, the old man suddenly opened his eyes and a terrifying heat spread from the cauldron for an instant, however in that moment Jerry almost collapsed like the sun was brought onto his forehead and felt he almost burned to ash. He didn't get any chills this time like the first time he interrupted the old man's refining but it was always annoying to get scared like this, therefore he scrunched up his eyebrows and looked purposely annoyed. The old man saw this and gave a loud chuckle before breaking into a long one after. He got up and went to chat with the young man.

"You finally came huh. I guess you want to ask me something again."

"Old man, why can't I just visit you because I miss our chats together. I'm not so pragmatic. Anyway since I'm here, I might as well ask you something."

"You're not being honest young man, but I can guess what you came to ask for. Let me first ask you, what do you think a mortal is?"
