Chapter 0129 - King Cardelli

There was nothing, for months the Jungle City Zao Priesthood had been working to get ready. People had arrived from all over the world, need was everywhere and substance few.

"THEY'RE BACK! THEY ARE BACK!!" Cheers could be heard, The Zao Clan had arrived. The Tower, a vessel of the Esper Emperor was seen just to the north of them a few hours ago, news trickled out fast. Then, about an hour later, it arrived at the Jungle City.

People were flocking to its doors, ready to flee the world that was condemned by the Esper Emperor years ago. He had returned, their liberator, savior and leader.

"Brother is back! BROTHER! BROTHER!" A young woman's voice could sometimes be heard over the crowd, but it was a large crowd. The Priesthood had special instructions concerning her and her family, they would always help expedite her interests. She had been well looked after in their care.

A large, blue and white figure spread its wings, wielding a hammer, he flew into the air and looked at the crowd below. He seemed intent on completing his duty, all other matters cleared from his vision. He thought he heard something, but orders were orders. He flew away at great speed.

'Aww.' Jessica lamented, she had arrived just a bit too late. Her brother had gone. Turning to her mother, they strolled to the shop down the street. the priesthood would pay whatever reasonable costs that came along. "It alright, a lot has happened over the past few months. I bet he's doing something extra important."

Karen looked at Jessica, smiled and walked inside. She had been wanting to have some tea all morning.

It was only ten minutes outside of the City by air, Mike had led a squad of the Dragonkin to help clear rubble and search for survivors. Storage rings made simple work of clearing debris. From time to time a group would require help, one by one his lieutenants had left the disaster zone to return to the City. Time passed, it was almost time for the first member of his squad to return but for the moment, he was alone.

A shot came across his shoulder and ricocheted away. 'Huh?' Mike turned and spotted the Sniper. His sights giving away his position since the target was at altitude instead of below.

Like a slingshot, Mike tore through the air. Arriving at the Snipers position, he could see movement about 50 meters to the south, he was moving as fast as he could through the brush and masking his position. "There is no use running." Mike pulled the Master Hammer from his storage and swung it to the ground, a wave of rock and rubble rushed out and exposed the Sniper's position once more.

"There was no where to go. I surrender.' The sniper tried to surrender, his facial expressions conveyed the lie well but Mike was smarter.

A collar was thrown in front of the Sniper. "Put it on." Mike opened his mouth.

"No." The sniper refused.

Mike repeated his words with a more aggressive tone. "Put it on, or become a corpse." The words were sincere, even the sniper couldn't deny the weight of his statement.

The Collar was secured and locked, a strange force came over the sniper, he felt incapable of refusing a request. "This should hold you until the Emperor can decide what to do with you." His lieutenant returned, scooped up the sniper and rushed back to the Jungle City.

Finding each other was simple enough, the South American continent was pretty small to begin with in comparison to the landmasses of Shiyan. Flight from coast to coast would only take about an hour at a leisurely speed for the Dragonkin. The Qilinkin were dispatched to the European nations to gather relief supplies that had been promised by Spain and Italy. The rest were sent to the coastline, they collected abandoned boats and supplies for the City in bulk.

Mike's duties were to look for survivors, but the odds of someone surviving long after the blast, while in the blast zone were astronomically small. Still, he had his orders. Apui was the closest city, though it was easier for the Dragonkin to simply fly directly to the Jungle City.

The tattoo on his hands and forearms had grown over his chest. Snowflake tattoos covered his upper torso, it marked itself along his scales, adding to their intricacy. His wings, which were originally blue began turning a platinum white where the tattoo was growing. "Perhaps it really is the measure of a King." Mike smiled, looked below and saw another leg poking from rubble.

Swooping in, he saw a platoon of soldiers moving around. He stopped midair and observed. They noticed him but none of them opened fire. Looking at the wounded, he landed and walked up to the soldiers in as calm a manner as was possible for his stature. Pulling a case of potions from his ring, he passed it over to the Medic.

The Medic wasn't stupid, he understood the concept of a healing potion but never expected to encounter one. The soldiers were all stunned by Mike's presence, it was starting to cause a commotion in the emergency camp, news of his landing had spread to the gate.

"These potions should be used on the the seriously wounded, try administering it in micro-doses until you get a desired effect. You can even apply it directly to the wound." Another case of moderate healing potions materialized and Mike looked around at the soldiers. "Hey, Can I ask you guys for a rifle? I'd hate to take one without asking." Mike's request was an odd one. A recovering solider passed his over, and watched it disappear into nothing. Then, Mike materialized another potion and handed it to the man. "For next time. I was once a soldier too. Stay alive." Turning to leave, he spread his wings outside of the Tent.

"That felt good." Mike leapt into the air and turned to see a helicopter. It was filming him. He waved, then sped off.

Watching a monitor in Jungle City, the priesthood security officers facepalmed. Mike had just helped some guerrillas. It was all on Camera.
