Chapter 0139 - Brittle Peace

Standing atop the Palace of Greensong, Mike held dozens of storage rings in a sack. The Motherlode of thefts from the CCP, he began to unpack the military vehicles and supplies. They were guarded by thick walls, the public didn't have access to the acreage in the back of the palace. A great private dock stood at the base of the cliffside.

Boats and vessels were sorted and spread apart. There was no airport, it was unlikely that without significant changes to the materials, planes were just heavy targets, tin cans at best. His favorite part of the inventory were the long range cannons and the few Railguns aboard the Battleships.

He had plans, massive plans.

Fuel came with the supplies, but creating more would be impossible. They were on a completely limited supply. Generators would have to be run entirely off batteries, it was very possible to use magic or abilities to recharge one. The Roads were easy to pave but there was a problem with people running the vehicles, it was the fuel.

Kim Li, and a few of the Alchemists had some ideas, but it was Mr. Munju that drawn out the design in only a day of research. Mr. Munju was given access to a full copy of the data from Tower City. By the time the roads were interconnected his idea had gone full bore and he called a meeting of the Elders in Greensong.

"I've found a rotation spell formation that accelerates by adding more power." The words came as a shock, Harris had personally gone through a multitude of records and books to find out if such a spell existed, his dreams of being number one were quickly dashed. It was now a corporate world, lots of eyes and fingers helped get things done faster and it was a landrush for ideas as well as property.

Mr. Munju had come up with a great solution. "We don't even have to change the existing designs of the vehicles, we can just take out the motors and transmissions. Its simple enough to put formation plates where ever we need them, drive shafts or even the wheels themselves." Crossing his arms, he also laughed considerably.

"Why not just put the formation plates with the rotation spell on the crankshaft and forgo the fuel entirely, the motor will still rotate, without much modification they will operate exactly as they did before." Harris had an idea but it sounded weird when he said it, he sounded hesitant.

Munju was impressed but had a few words. "repairs. What happens when the motor breaks down, we don't have the facilities or factories to produce new parts. Its easier to start a change over. We can keep the cabs, the designs, even everything inside.. eventually someone will take the time to convert our knowledge about automobiles into something useful for this world, but I think it will be a commodity that is a bit extravagant here. Since fuel is going to be impossible for the public. Conversion is going to happen... it has to, otherwise almost everything from Earth are merely relics. Lets not even get to the problem with telecommunications, I just learned that Kim Li has a design for Communication stones but it is going to take manpower, they are consumed on use."

"I can see where your concerns lay, the Dragon King has been handing out supplies and is about to open the port, he's had people passing out boats, canoes, anything that could be used, as is." Genba looked out at the table of Elders. "This is not going to be easy, but we must all look away while they choose their own paths, instead of the hand we stretch outward. Housing.. that's the limit of my contribution, I want family to be my only priority."

Abbi stood next to her husband, "We start a family soon. I've set up a roost atop the palace, but I do not want to raise my children around Earthling habits" She looked at Genba then out at the table like he had done. "My children will be of both worlds, but, So am I. I don't feel connected to these people, they are loud and demanding. I think the Dragon King should leave the port in the care of someone interested in the job. I like the City Planner title, but truly, its going to be a nightmare. I already don't like these people." She stamped her foot a bit.

"Arlington, What do you think?" Mike was listening to everyone, but when it came to security he was always interested in what Arlington had to say.

"I think we'd be fools to let so many skilled warriors slip through our fingers, we need to form an army. I think we should put out a message to the citizens and start building our forces immediately. With some replication of parts and material exchanges I think we can use the battleships and even the cannons and existing artillery, however I also think that we'll have a serious problem if we run out. The Boats can be fitted with the Rotation Formation Plates and resume normal operations, Water is still water on this world. Our biggest problem is the wildlife. Without Magic Users, a boat is defenseless versus some of the more basic of sea creatures. Its a bad day waiting to happen." Arlington shot his mouth off and sat back. He had a mission, to survive.

"That's convenient, at least fishing can resume for some of the population. We can't have the Zao City Security forces do all the construction work, eventually someone else will have to do what's unfinished in the future.. we can't wait around to train some people." Mi Yong had some words for the Council. "My Family's school for martial arts was designed around humans initially, there is no reason to assume we can't repeat those successes on Shiyan if we opened a school. I'd like to work with Arlington on the initial batch of soldiers. It could solve a lot of our resource needs as well, cultivating a body on this world requires a vast quantity of materials and training. They could be sent out on missions for contribution points and training."

"The Emperor has made considerable restrictions on the sharing of such topics with the public, we cannot disobey his plan, he said that he plans to roll it out slowly so that there is not an abundance of chaos and out of control fighting. I believe that part. A lot of grudges still exist from Earth, we can't be blind to prejudice." Mike stood up and continued to talk, grabbing everyone's attention with his words. "I will plead with the Emperor to hurry on these matters, he has never broken a promise in my presence, I do not believe that day will ever come. Gather the Security teams and Mr. Munju, please gather all your recruits for the military in coordination with Arlington."

The Elders of Zao City stood outside of the north western gate, the population that had not taken up residence in Earth City was standing alongside them. The Priesthood, having finished the majority of buildings in Earth City, had turned their focus to the Landrush that was promised by the Sect.

Teams started spreading out, each sect member had about a thousand people following them at a time.

It was chaos, but the Sect Members were all marked with flags. Each was capable of creating buildings and was loaded with a set of blueprints for reference. Every quarter of a kilometer they would build another house on either side of the road until they had completed their job. The roads would come once the buildings were established.

About three million people still remained in Tower City before it had come to the Sect, a few hundred thousand had shown interest in Joining the Zao Clan but only two million had chosen to move to Earth City. The Landrush at Earth City had not only taken the entire Eastern Mountain but its interior as well. Inspired by the forge at the Zao Clan's Western Mountain, another was built under the Eastern Flats. People were moving around everywhere, the region was soon teeming with Humans.

"I have a family of nine, I need a bigger house." It was a regular complaint, the houses were sometimes just too small, the simple fix was to just add more or build a second house entirely. It slowed down some of the teams and they were forced to work throughout the night.

Some families spent a long time getting to a place where they could stop, It was the Emperor's decision to start with families that had children, so the final people to look for a place to settle a home were mostly single. "You don't have a family, we've told you what happens when you lie right? Don't repeat your mistake." Rubear was one of the first transmigrated, he was very defensive when it came to the Sect.

"Sorry. Can I trouble you for a favor then.. Can you tell me how I can learn Magic?" The Man was serious.

Rubear could only shake his head. "The Emperor said that matters of magic for the pubic will have to wait, research is not forbidden, however the Sect is ordered not to discuss the details. Sorry." he finished the last touches and brought out a bed from storage, courtesy of the container ships in Ho's collection. "At least you got a bed, I didn't even give those out to everyone. Have a good day."

Rubear spread his wings and looked at the path from the air, he had gone out in a swerved pattern, it wasn't exactly what he had planned but he made sure not to be too close to other groups. The plains were dotted with houses like an old country town. Each house had some land behind it, enough to farm, or do whatever they liked. "The emperor will be pleased."

Fireballs could be seen in the distance, it looked like a fight. Rubear went to check. He found Guzhe using chaos bombs to destroy an Undead that threatened some of his group. "Everything okay? Captain.. Is everything alright??"

Guzhe had his bell rung from the explosion, he had slipped into a shadow just in time but the concussive blast rippled even into the shadow zone. "I'll be fine. Check to see if I have any wounded."

Swooping down and next to the crowd, Rubear started sending out his spiritual sense and felt nothing out of the ordinary. "All clear. Was it just the one?"

"Yeah, just the one. Must have been a straggler. I'll inform the Emperor when I return to the Sect." Guzhe slipped into the shadows and then called out to his group from the other side. "You all, come on.. we gotta finish this up, I need sleep too. come on." Only about a hundred remained in Guzhe's group, he would be done within the next few hours.

The Suns still had a few hours before they would start to rise. Rubear turned to the skies and flew toward the basin in the Southeast. There were a few houses and roads that went toward the Antmen Colony. The Queen had already made contact with the Patriarch, disputes were bound to happen, he sped off to meet the trailhead.

The Emperor had finished with formalities and was being briefed by council. "I don't care what it takes, make it happen so I can get back to my search."

A cold wind rolled in from the North, a few presences that were of special importance to the Sect were among it. "Sister has returned." Wu Hai turned to his Mother.

"I can feel it too, she's upset." Calistown opened the doors to the Castle Balcony and waited.
