Cosmic Wave Carving Technique

What he saw was an elegantly decorated room with only one table in the room. The room was draped with red curtains of fine silk and many beautiful lines drawn across the walls. On the plain wooden table Lin Ke saw a small blank rune lying on the surface along with a little display next to it.

Lin Ke walks up next to the table and looks down at the rune. The tablet was smooth without any carvings already on it. Lin Ke then looks at the words on the display. In all caps it said. "TIER 1 ENERGY GATHERING RUNE"

"Are you ready? " A familiar voice says. Looking at the edge of the table, Lin Ke saw Lily curled up looking at him. "You can spend as long as you need in this room. You won't get tired, you won't get hungry, you won't get thirsty. Do you know what to do?"

Lin Ke looks back down and nods. "I know what to do."

Lin Ke picks up the empty white rune and stares at it for a moment. He feels the smooth glossy surface of the stone then, in his right hand his brush appears. Lin Ke wanted to test something. From the information he gained earlier, there were many different techniques to create runes, and the one given to him was the most fluid, most unique, and the most difficult one.

The Cosmic Wave Carving Technique, a fluid, fast-paced, and stylistic technique that involves imbuing one's brush with their True Energy, and applying just enough to move your brush across the rune. Using this method, one is able to create the most unique and powerful runes, however, using this technique can also lead to many faulty and useless runes.

Lin Ke clasps the white rune in his left hand and, with his right, he holds his semi-divine tool. Recalling the instructions on the Technique, Lin Ke attempts to replicate the circulation of his True Energy. Concentrating it in the tip of brush, Lin Ke carefully touches the surface of the rune.

In a very anticlimactic way, the brush doesn't even leave a dent on the blank rune. Lin Ke looks at it in disbelief, feeling very silly. In his mind, he had done everything correctly, or at the very least, followed the instructions quite closely.

"Pff." Lily tried to hold in her laughter at the stupid look on Lin Ke's face. "Did you really think that it would be that easy? Of course not, dummy!"

Lin Ke looks at her with an annoyed expression. "Lily, it wouldn't kill you to be quiet for a while would it?"

"Sorry, sorry. " She said quickly. "Try again though. It won't be that easy, but that's okay! You have as long as you need."

Nodding his head, Lin Ke concentrates once again on his brush. Looking at it closely, he imagines the true energy in his body flowing towards the brush, concentrating in the tip. As he felt his own energy move into the brush, the brush glowed with a faint white outline.

Surprised at the glow, Lin Ke almost dropped his brush in surprise. He looks over at Lily, hoping for an answer. Lily looks at him as if he was an idiot. "That's your True Energy. When you condense your energy core, all of your bodily functions get boosted, including your ability to sense True Energy and World Energy. When you condense a high enough grade Energy Core, you gain the ability to physically see all usage of True Energy."

"The reason you can see it now is because of this room. The system is highlighting your true Energy for you so that you can get a better handle on how to manipulate it. Now, enough talking, hurry up and get to work." Lily explains.

Understanding what the light was now, Lin Ke tried again to no avail. Each time, his brush wasn't able to penetrate the smooth surface of the white rune. Even with his full concentration on throwing all the energy in his body at the brush, it just wouldn't be enough to carve into the rune. After four or five more attempts, Lin Ke stopped what he was doing to try to figure out what he was doing wrong.

"Hmmmm." He said to himself. "What am I doing wrong? I'm infusing my energy into the brush but it's just not strong enough. The tip keeps on bending… Hmmmmm…"

Lin Ke wracks his brain, but can't seem to think of a way to solve this issue. Lily, who had been watching his attempts with an amused expression, decided to cut in. "Why don't you try to control your True Energy?" She asks.

Lin Ke looks up from his contemplation. "Hm? What do you mean control it? I am controlling it. How else is it moving?" Lin Ke is quite confused by that statement.

Lily shakes her head. "No you're not. All you're doing is moving your energy, herding it to another place without giving it more instructions. You're mindlessly changing the gathering space, but not changing its form. That's all I'm going to say. Figure it out yourself, I already told you more than I am supposed to."

"Change its form…?" Lin Ke hesitantly repeats. "Ah! Why didn't I think of that before?"

With renewed vigor, Lin Ke once again concentrates on his brush, channeling his True Energy to it. However, this time he didn't immediately press the brush to the surface. Instead, he focused even harder, not on gathering the energy, but on changing the shape of the aura, compressing it, surrounding the tip, strengthening it.

This time, the white light around his brush was different. Instead of oozing off of the brush in a shapeless way, it condensed into a mould, surrounding the brush and almost seemed solid.

Lin Ke looks at the brush with a satisfied expression, feeling extremely proud he was able to pull it off in the first try. Next, he looks down at the still blank rune. His heart races a little as he brings his brush closer to the rune. As the anticipation builds up within him, the ti touches the rune.

In a smooth manner, the place touched by the brush caved in, making the originally hard rune seem like clay. With a wondrous expression on his face, Lin Ke moved his brush around slowly, trying to get a feel of the rune. It took some strength to move the tip of the brush, which had become extremely stiff. Dragging the brush through the rune, Lin Ke attempted to recreate the Tier 1 Energy Gathering Rune.
