Marcus woke up with a killer headache and surrounded by massive trees. Before the panic and confusion set in, he just stood in awe of the massive trees and shrubbery.
Panic setting in, he started looking for any landmarks for where he was. Confusion kept rising as he saw two moons in the sky. "Where the fuck am I?"
[Welcome Refugee #152]
[After being saved from imminent destruction, your species has been offered respite on the planet of Moraterra]
[In order to survive, you have been given access to a temporary compendium of abilities. The ability or abilities will be chosen at your discretion before level 5.]
[Remember this is NOT your old world, death is closer than your shadow, and life is a privilege few can afford]
Seeing his suspicions proven true proved a better experience than he would have imagined. He didn't really have anything or anyone waiting for him in his old life. Both parents were dead, no siblings, and the few interactions he had, were with other homeless people hustling for money.
In the nature of the novels he read saying "Status" displayed his isekai stat sheet.
[Marcus Grayson lvl.1]
The one thing that struck him as odd was that there wasn't any actual stats on the sheet. Where was his strength, agility, intelligence, etc? Funny enough, as soon as he asked they revealed themselves.
[Marcus Grayson lvl.1]
Strength: 0.8
Speed: 0.6
Intelligence: 0.4
Just as he was going to ask where are rest of his stats he heard distant squawking coming closer to his position. Ducking into thick shrubs, Marcus looked to the direction of the noise, only to find a pair of purple and blue birds chasing down a rabbit with a horn on its head.
The rabbit was bounding through the grass with trepidation and weird confidence. The pair of birds kept inching closer ready to attack. Completely focused on running, the little rabbit trips on a twig, giving the pair of birds a chance to dive. Completely focused on their prey, the birds didn't notice a family of 5-10 rabbits, hiding in the grass. Making their move, the blue bird with purple streaks managed to grab the rabbit. Meanwhile, the purple bird with blue streaks was barraged with flying rabbits slamming their horns onto the predator. One was able to leave with the prey, the other left bruised and crippled with the rabbit assault.
Witnessing the brutal display of life in the animal world brought dread to Marcus' eyes. "This is what life is gonna be for me now, huh."
Keeping an eye out for any predators that may be lurking, Marcus took the dying bird and fled to find some place of respite. Now that he had food he just needed shelter and a water source. With no source of navigation and lack of time spent on youtube watching wilderness videos, he just took off in a random direction, trying to look for water.
Two hours and what felt like 50 miles later, he found something even more worse than the fact that he was in a random world with a system.
He was on an island.
