The Trial

The scent of crisp, burnt meat slowly filled the senses of the surrounding people, yet no one crinkled their noses or even frowned at the unfortunate and sudden death of a young guard. The silence was obsolete and only when his body started to tremble, did LiangLin realize he had been holding in his breath.

"I shouldn't have brought you here," Uncle Hua said tightly as he side-eyed LiangLin struggling to fill his lungs. "But if you want to know more about XueYa, then you must see how we live here in the community."

"Uncle Hua-," Tao squeaked miserably.

XueYa had instructed him to keep LiangLin away from all that had to do with sorcerers. Just wait till Captain heard of this, he would skin Tao's ass. The young pirate could already feel his skin pinching from the thought alone.

"I'm fine," LiangLin said, his visage calm, collected, utterly dead on the inside.
